Another vote for bex to read The Nightingale. Sorry ribollita, I haven't read any other Kristin Hannah books other than "Firefly Lane" which I only thought was ok.
I read a few online reviews of WG this morning that said the first half was boring, slow, and too long but the second half was amazing: a 2*/ 5* split. So I’ll get going!
A little late to respond but YES! The beginning is slow but it’s definitely worth it to power through to the end. It all came together for me and I ended up really liking this book.
I am very late to this, but I hope you kept reading! I loved this book and the fairy tale makes a lot more sense once you understand why it's such an emphasis.
I think the Nightengale is the best of Kristin Hannah's books, at least of those I've read, but Winter Garden was probably a close second.
I hated "Comfort and Joy", just in case anyone reading this thread was thinking of reading that one. It's nothing like her others.

Until I read The Nightengale, Winter Garden was my favorite Kristin Hannah book, so I also hope you kept going. It really does all come together in the end!
