For those of us celebrating holidays this month - how was it?
Ours was good - E did great at my sister's, I was so proud of her. She got a ton of clothes, not too many toys, which I'm happy with. H is home for the rest of the week so we'll just be hanging out. It's too cold out to do much else.
@daylily we had everyone come to us this year and same - it was great! No juggling between my family and in-laws, traveling with an 3 month old. Everyone came to us and brought food, I hope to keep the new tradition alive for as long as I can haha.
C got an awesome train set and then a jumperoo that we already have. If I take it BabiesRUs will they give me store credit since I dont have a receipt?
I'm jealous of everyone who had a white Christmas. We are in Texas so even though we did get snow earlier in the month I don't think we've ever had that. I can imagine it really keeps the coziness and spirit alive for the day.
thoseareradishes I'm jealous you guys are off work. My PTO balance is .001 after maternity leave so i'm working this week but at least I can work from home.
Oh and GL on the GD test @daylily! I was nervous for mine and passed no problem. I'm hoping the same for you.
TBH...I say eat what you want today and go easy tomorrow. You don't get the results for a day or two (or at least I didn't) so you can still have a milkshake or two if you want this weekend.

Our Christmas was so nice! It was just the three of us (we’ll celebrate with my family this upcoming weekend) and we had a nice balance of activity and at-home cozy time. We just got C a few toys since he doesn’t even know the difference and his birthday is next week, but he was spoiled by the rest of the family and friends. His favorite part of it all was looking at Christmas lights.
We did have our first “drop the baby” incident though and it scared the hell out of me. He’s got quite the bump on his forehead but was fine within in 10 minutes. Me, on the other hand, I’m still recovering a few days later!
With C’s first birthday coming up, this holiday season has been especially nostalgic. These are the last few days where when we think back about what we did last year, it will be when I was pregnant and scared about whether or not his birth would result in a baby. So much has changed in a year and we are so blessed to have such a perfect little boy. That doesn’t get old for me.
A opened 2 gifts and promptly suffered present burnout, but LOVED her ball from Santa. She'll be opening the rest of her gifts over the course of the week. Boxing Day here for us, so I've been online shopping all day and relaxing. This has been an awesome Christmas for us, and it's already breaking my heart that my H will go back in 2 weeks, and he and A will be apart for another 4 months. I really hope this isn't doing any permanent damage to her psyche. She's old enough now to know that he'll be gone, but not old enough to understand why.
We have literally been traveling all month and B has been such a trooper. In December alone, we've done a weekend in NYC, a weekend in DC, a week in Europe and now we are spending a week at my parents' house in Michigan. Poor guy has barely seen his own crib, and has been on 8 flights this month, but he's really been wonderful.
Christmas with him was so fun - he's such a joy and loved his new toys and being fawned over by grandparents and aunties. H also had a good 4 day stretch off work, which is the longest we've seen him in months, so that was really nice.
We learned at B's 12 month appointment that he will need tubes in his ears, so we have a consult for that in a few weeks. This was promptly confirmed by his ear drum rupturing from an ear infection while we were in Austria last week, so I am really looking forward to the tubes - I think they will make a world of difference for him. It's strange, but after he started his latest round of antibiotics, he started walking within a few days. I can't help but wonder if the constant ear infections have been throwing off his balance.
christmas was lovely. We were pretty rushed in the morning - we did our own gifts at home, then breakfast and gifts and my mom's house, then lunch and gifts at my ILs. It was a little too much, but otherwise a great day.
The day after christmas DD woke up with a rash all over her body - arms, legs, face, torso, everywhere. Doc says it was a reaction to the amoxicillin she's been on, so no more penicillins for her. Not only that, but both ears are still infected, poor girl, so we started on a new round of different antibiotics. I hope she can finally start feeling better soon. December has been a rough month for her.
I'm back at work today. It's super quiet here. H is home with both kids.
janegold, we got tubes for my DS and while we were apprehensive about it, it was so easy and he never had another ear infection after. How was europe with a baby? did he sleep and eat ok?

Oh good, I'm glad to hear it!
The trip was actually really great. This is the second time he's been to Europe - first at 5 months, and then at 12 months. I thought this trip would be a lot harder because he wouldn't want to sit still on the long flights and would have a hard time spending so much time in his stroller all day. But he really did great. The flights were easy and he didn't mind walking around in the stroller all day. Eating was fine; I packed lots of snacks and pouches from home so we always had a backup. The only thing that was tough was sleeping - he's just been in so many different beds this month, including 3 different hotels on the Europe trip alone, that he was never able to get really settled and comfortable in any one place. I don't blame him. It worked best when we had a big apartment style suite in Prague, where we could put him to sleep in his own room, and where he had lots of room to move and play.

E got some gymboree clothes for Christmas. The sizing is so weird. They are 6-12 months, which should be fine since she wears 6-9m in Carters. One shirt we couldn't get over her big head. The pants are skin tight and a weird material. The onsies, however, look huge and baggy.
I haven't been around in a bit. I've tried to read here and there.
DD loved Christmas and she loved opening presents. She did well and opened all but 2 of her birthday presents, and she opened all of her Christmas ones. (The Christmas ones were over 2-3 days though)
We traveled for the holidays and it was exhausting and we didn't even see any friends just family. We are going back in 2 weeks and we are meeting our friends while we are there.

Yep--we had a few Gymboree hand me downs DS never wore because I found they ran super small compared to Carters. The shorts were really long though. It's weird. I mostly stick to Carters and Gap.

A is still very comfortable in Carters 12 months. But the 2 piece gymboree 6-12 months are way too small.
Not a fan of Gymboree. The sizes are weird and I don't think the clothes are particularly well made.
A wears a lot of Gap, some Carters, and MEC (which, btw awick14 and dellabear, the sizes are enormous so definitely size down if you buy anything there), plus some local brands. When we were in the US, I remember the Cat & Jack line from Target fitting her quite well. She's long and lean.
We have also noticed that Gymboree sizes are on the small size. All the gymboree stuff got handed down to a friend who's girl is 6 months younger then DD. She's worn a lot of the stuff but I warned her about the sizing.
Dhs friend from high school, (I always laugh as it was his prom date, lol) gave us 7 costco diaper boxes of clothing for DD. We have only used 3-4 of them so far as the rest is 12m+ and she's not in that stuff yet. We have only bought her a few things and the rest has all been gifts so far. We are very fortunate. We will have to start buying clothing once she's in 18m+ though.
So I passed my GD test with flying colors, which I am surprised by. I am anemic however so I need to start taking iron. I wonder if I'll feel like I have more energy? I haven't felt particularly run down but who knows.
I'm still at my parents and I swear my mother hasn't cooked a single vegetable since we got here. Jesus.
When I took iron pills well pregnant they didn't give me more energy but they made it so that my body didn't feel so heavy. (If that makes any sense to you.)

E got pretty much all the 12m clothes she will need for Christmas. Unless she needs them into warm weather, then I'll add some shorts and t-shirts. I try to be somewhat minimalist with her clothing so I'm glad it's mostly Carters which mixes and matches well.
I'm a big fan of Primary and buy an increasing majority of DS's clothes from there. I like the solids and less gendered clothing. I'm very twitchy about gendered messaging on kids clothes and know it will get worse with a daughter, so I'm sure I'll be giving Primary even more business.
Oh, just looked them up and they look awesome. I love all the colours, especially if you have a boy. Most clothing geared towards boys is so drab these days. Wonder if they ship to Canada...
I shop both the "boys" and "girls" sections for A. I once bought a cute baseball T type shirt that had a fox on it and says "clever". It was in the boys section. There was no equivalent for girls.
@daylily I also looked up Primary. They look awesome! loira they only ship to the US. I wonder if it would be worth getting it shipped to the border and driving over to get it. 🤔
My MIL hates it but I dress DD in any hand me downs I get. Boy or girl. (I do tend to do the more boyish things when we are at home, but people still say she's a "cute little boy" even when she's in a pink dress. So who cares.)
Just look at my Instagram, her first steps were in a boys racecar sleeper. Lol
awick14, darn! Let's remember this in May. My H will be coming back to Canada then. Maybe we can bundle an order and he can drive them up when he moves back here.
