I took the girls to storytime today and while at the library signed myself up for a winter adult reading challenge. Basically you track how many hours you read and for every 5 hours you get an entry into a drawing for gift baskets of stuff. I'm hoping it will motivate me read more. I love to read but I haven't been making it a priority since having kids.
Feel better amaranth. We are having a flu epidemic locally. My step mom was admitted for 24 hours and it seems everyone has it and it’s bad this season 🙁
bk1- good luck with the reading challenge! I don’t read nearly enough since having the boys and I would love to find the time/energy to get back to reading more.
ewall- prayers for your daycare teacher. How devastating 🙁
Thank you all for your support and prayers- really appreciate it! I talked to MIL yesterday and she seems to think services won’t be til the week of 1/15. DH is back to work and doing as wel as can be expected.
My cold is worse today. Managed to do our Costco errand and take down Christmas but am resting while the boys nap.
Ugh. I woke up sick to my stomach at 1:30a. Vomited twice between then and 3:30. L was up from 2-3:30. Got a couple hours of sleep before DH was up for work. No idea how I am going to get through today. I just called my dad to see if he can drop off some sprite and Gatorade....still nauseous and my head is pounding. I also feel really weak so carrying the boys up and down the stairs for naps will be interesting. I hope this ends soon.

Just seeing this now. Can totally relate! How are you feeling now? I'm back to 90% (just a tiny headache lingering) so hopefully your bug is fast too.

So glad you are feeling better!! I am much better now but still tired and not eating much at all (a piece of bread). I have done most of my parenting from the couch today LOL. I still have the congestion and cough so not sure how long this will linger. I don’t want to take anything since I am still nursing and want to protect my supply. L is now coughing so I really hope he doesn’t get too bad.
L had the flu now 🙁. He’s been up a ton at night since coming home a week ago I didn’t think much of it when he was last night too. He threw up his breakfast twice and apparently threw up sometime last night because his sheet was wet when I checked it (it wasn’t before I fed him at 4:15 because I checked then). Trying to see if the nurse will call me back and advise on going in or not. I wouldn’t be so concerned if it weren’t for his recent asthma diagnosis and the fact that our only option for care tomorrow is the hospital).
DH is at the park without C while L naps. We had plans to go to Yogurtland and grocery shopping after naps but maybe we just won’t go or I will take C while DH stays home. My dad also offered to come clean our carpet where L vomited (more for sanitary reasons than anything) but will see what DH wants to do.
This isn’t directed at anyone in particular and I hope no one takes offense at this idea, but could we consider having two randoms threads each week? One for kid/baby/pregnancy/etc talk and one for everything else?

I actually really like this idea. I sometimes want to post something kid related but then decide against it because I really try to limit my kid talk here (sorry if I'm not that good at it, I swear I try!). I've also been trying to use the @ warning if my post is going to be completely kid related if we want to start that again. Just another idea!

I don’t want to be the reason that everyone else feels like they have to limit their kid talk, but, if I’m being honest, the @ warning isn’t helpful for me. Since we don’t have much traffic and we don’t make very many threads, it seems like it would make more sense to just separate the discussions into different threads so that no one feels like they have to hold back or limit or censor or anything.

Don't feel bad! I think it really makes sense. I can see how the @ doesn't help. It's still a kid related post and I know you (and others) care about the kids too, but it's totally understandable that it gets to be a lot sometimes. I'll admit sometimes I feel overwhelmed with kid related posts too, lol. I'm all for whatever makes everyone comfortable and happy!

Exactly! I absolutely care, but it would be nice to have the option to choose when I can follow along with the discussions versus when I need to take a step back for a while, without having to back away from the board entirely to do so.

To be honest, me too. I mean, I have a kid, yes. But I'm also having a lot of difficulty TTC #2, probably more than the first time. So seeing people with 2 kids, or pregnant with their second (not just here, in other boards and Facebook too), has been a bit of a punch in the gut lately.
I'm sure none of you follow TTTC, but we're starting FET #1.5 with 2 very poor quality embryos frozen. I'm not expecting either of them to survive thawing. The only reason we're going through it is because insurance is covering.
So many ((Hugs)) pooh8402. Praying one of your embryos results in a healthy baby for you guys. My heart hurts knowing you guys are going through this again. We are here for you...please keep us updated as you go through this cycle.
