This is interesting! They added a diamond tier at $1200. I just saw a brief snippet on trendmoods ig but when I google nothing really comes up. Looks like maybe you get an extra bonus or two and earn points faster. I wonder if they will take away some of the platinum perks.
Lol that they want you to spend $1200 to get free shipping on $25 or more and .25 bonus points:eyeroll: Not impressed. At least platinum looks like it stayed the same.

Ironically, if they gave me free ship at $25 I'd be far more likely to hit Diamond in the first place (I swear Sephora Flash is what keeps me Rouge). (Though with Ulta I have yet to ever hit platinum so...)
How much do you have to spend to hit rouge? Isn't diamond on par with that? Doesn't seem that extreme to me looking at the numbers a lot of people are throwing down in the "yearly spend" thread.

$1000 for Rouge.
For some reason, I find it hard to spend more money at Ulta, even though I shop there more frequently. I'm not sure if it's because I mainly shop sales and use coupons, or what. The benefits for diamond aren't great considering how much you have to spend. It's also a big jump from $450 to $1200. I'd say the new benefits are more on par for a $700 to $800 spend level, but maybe I'm expecting a lot.
Before I started shopping a lot at Sephora (gee thanks, peer pressure), the most I've spent at Ulta was $700.

I don't really have a great basis for comparison to what are appropriate benefits for various spend levels...ulta is basically the only customer rewards program where I got anything special. I now only barely hit platinum because my BFF uses my account when she buys herself things and buys gifts for her makeup crazy niece. (the year of the OG MUT was...special)
I mean, the Rouge benefits always seemed kinda half assed to me anyway compared to being able to spend ulta points on anything, but the whole special events and makeovers and all that never appealed to me so clearly I'm not the target audience. But you figure if diamond is also going to have exclusive point bonus and sale codes the way platinum does, they'll be racking up points in a HUGE way and unless they decrease the point value at some point that's pretty valuable. In dollars.
I love Ulta and really work their points system (I cashed in 2,000 points twice last year), but it seems the only benefit is free shipping for the Diamond tier? WTF. So dumb.

And it’s not even a good free shipping. I don’t know why this feels so stingy to me but I think it’s lame overall. It will not incent me to spend more than I currently do

God, me too. That $10 was probably the best (and worst) I have ever spent. Paid for itself in about a month, and now I am rouge. They totally got me.
I'm guessing they're targeting people who use the hair salon and other services with this new tier. I could see getting to $1200 if I was getting regular hair cuts and stuff on top of doing my shopping there. For me personally I'm annoyed that they aren't really improving their shipping. I love Sephoras flash shipping and have never had any problems with it even during busy times. Ulta on the other takes over a week to get to me at best. I have been seeing rumors that they're going to start having a site to store ordering option which I would be interested in using.

Exactly. A higher buy-in than Rouge and we still have to have a minimum for free shipping. It misses the mark. A lot of people are concerned that this will also eventually mean a watering down of Platinum Perks (as far as points multipliers and flash sales).

Eh...I see how they're trying to be compared to Sephora and I see how people who use their services could hit the $1,200 but I'm ok with platinum. I have two Ultas within five - 10 miles, the big Sephora is on my way to and from work, the baby JCP Sephora is right up the road. If I desperate for something, I could probably get it. I can't track what I spend on skin care/make up annually or I would make myself sick. I do know in 2017 I didn't hit platinum until much later in the year than previously so I count that as a win.
