I like the Tarteist Lip Paints. But I usually apply/dab on either some gloss or Chapstick on the top so it feels more comfortable. I've realized I don't really like the super long-lasting products, I'd rather re-apply mid-day if that's what it takes.
Another great alternative is Too Faced Lip Insurance. You apply it under any lipstick, and it REALLY increases the longevity! A little bit drying, but not horrible.
i like the new(ish) UD liquid lipsticks. they still feel drying, but in an okay way - my lips aren't peeling and a mess like some other brands (tarte and too faced do that to me).
but, i find this is kinda like mascara - it's all about personal preference. what's good for some people is super drying on others and vice versa.
one thing i try to do, both the night before i'm going to wear it and the night after is use a lip scrub and the bite overnight lip mask
The Maybelline matte lipsticks. They last a few hours for me and are super easy to apply since they're not a liquid lipstick. Touch of Spice is the popular shade.

I love the UD vice liquids, but they dry my lips out so bad I only use them on Occasions. I tried putting balm under once and it made it streaky, but maybe it was just the balm I used.
I've been impressed with both Buxom and Smashbox's matte formulas. I do almost always put on lip balm ~20 minutes before applying any matte lip color, and that seems to preserve the wear as well as protect my lips.
Bare Minerals Gen Nude. It’s so light I forget that it’s even there. I’m not really a heavy lip product person - if i can tell something is on my lips it drives me crazy.

The new marc jacobs liquid matte crayon is super comfortable and so is Nudestix intense matte lip and cheek color. Steer clear of the nudestix magnetic mattes, those things are nutso drying.
I found that using the Bite lip primer underneath a matte lipstick makes all the difference in the world. You get a base with moisture, but it also provides grip for the lipstick. I’ve been using it with NYX liquid mattes and a Mac mattes lipstick.
Thanks for all the recs! Funny enough, I found that I have a few of these in my stash, but they are colors I don't love, so I've never given them a good testing. I'll have to find better colors, plus I have some new things to try. Oh darn, more shopping
nsl, thanks for the 20 wait tip. I tried that today with my UD and it was much more comfortable, but still looked great and lasted.
The UD Vice Comfort Matte are good, too. I don't even really like matte but fell in love with the color Backtalk after getting a sample. It is not drying at all.

Today I got a drugstore lip (I have tons of spendy liquid lips that I never use...I am the worst) and it was the Maybelline Lip Ink. I saw it on Jessica Braun and loved the color...it is gorgeous and lasts and I love it. I think it might be an everyday for me.
