Dog broke toenail? I think? Advice appreciated

Our dog was racing along the fence line because her buddy was outside in the yard behind us. She started to come to the door, and was limping, with her front paw picked up, covered in thick mud. (We got some rain the other day and it's still damp) I could tell almost right away that she was bleeding, but I couldn't tell where it was coming from, because her paws were so muddy. I put her in the bath and gently got her paws cleaned up, and she wasn't bleeding anymore, but as soon as I went to get her out of the tub, it started bleeding a little again. I THINK she broke her one toe nail--my husband always clips her nails, but hasn't in too long because of work and travel. I know the length contributed to this, and I feel terrible about that. Since it's the weekend, I was just looking for advice if this has happened to anyone else. Based on the pictures, do you think it's a broken nail? There appears to be pink tissue that I can barely see peeking out. I'm sitting with her to make sure she rests, and I'll take her to the vet in the morning.

This happened to my dog a few months ago. Don’t do anything. As long as it stops bleeding, it will heal and fall off.
