How did you do last week? I actually did well last week! I made it through all of my yoga workouts, even on the days when I tried to make excuses to avoid doing them.
What are your plans for this week? (Fitness, nutrition, meal plans, etc.) More of the same for me. 30 minutes of yoga every day, continuing with the 30 Day Yoga Journey.
AWs/Vents/Randoms/etc? I don't have much this week... can we talk about skincare? I know we've talked about it here before, but what is everyone using? Or planning to use? Or considering using? Part of the reason I stopped taking the time to wash my face 2x/day is because I wasn't seeing any results from what I was using. It wasn't making things worse, but it also wasn't making things better. Now I have a friend who sells R+F and she really wants me to try it, but it's sooooo expensive even at her discounted rate.
wanderingenough - Did you call your dermatologist to schedule an appointment?
ewall - What workout DVD are you doing? Do you like it?
suzv - How are your nutrition changes going? Giving up soda was so difficult for me! I still crave it, a year later. It's awful.
wineandcheese - Your freezer meal posts have been so inspiring for me! I can't wait to have a kitchen again so I can start doing some, too! Do you have any favorite recipes or hints/tips for making freezer meals?
@opal - Do you make the protein powder cookies or do you buy them? Care to share the recipe or link? I need more healthy breakfast options! I'm doing the TRUE yoga challenge, too, and I'm really enjoying it so far. It's the first Yoga with Adriene challenge I've done, and I really like her style.
katespade- not any more than usual but not surprised since we were all sick, DH had year end close, and his grandma passed away. I pretty much had the opposite in that most of the weight of everything fell on me and I had a hard time balancing normal needs of the house, caring for everyone sick (including myself), and being supportive of DH (both work and Grandma related).
As for skin care...my good friend is a consultant for R+F. My parents bought me a regimen for Christmas so I am planning to start using that as soon as things calm down. I had started before we left for ILs but didn’t feel like taking it all with me or spending the time using the products while there (we also had to pack fast and unexpectedly). I do like the products (I have tried a couple samples and no complaints with anything but I highly doubt I will stick to it long term based on their price point...definitely not in our budget).
Last week was pretty bad. I was snacking a lot and missed a few days of my yoga challenge. BUT I did go for a nice walk outside despite the weather and try out some Instant Pot recipes. This week the plan is to catch up on the yoga challenge, try out the treadmill, & make more healthy meals. Tomorrow is salmon, I haven’t planned much more than that. ☺️
@opal - Oh my gosh, that cookie recipe looks AMAZING! I’m definitely going to make it once I have a kitchen again. lol. I like that it seems pretty flexible to make adjustments as needed. Thank you!
katespade We did one yoga with Adrienne challenge before this and I got hooked. She’s very calm and focused which I appreciate.
Yes! She’s calm and focused, but still comes across as relatable. And I love that her dog hangs out with her, and she manages to interact with him and stay focused at the same time. Both of my dogs like to lay on my mat, so I’ve actually learned a bit from watching how she works around him. Haha.
Did pretty good last week. Missed one workout because I was exhausted and ended up on the couch instead. Much like this evening. I was planning to do a DVD, but I'm wiped out.
Doing well at eating my fruits and veggies. Being mindful of sugar consumption to try to identify triggers, but no real progress yet.
Plan for this week is: T - Hotel treadmill walk/run W - Treadmill walk T - Workout DVD F - Walk S - Gym class

I did well with my workouts last week. Eating went well during the week, but it all went to crap over the weekend. I did too much snacking and had some mimosas at a bridal shower. Plus now I'm on my period and craving sweets like whoa! However, I dragged my booty to the gym today despite wanting to skip. So I'll call it a win.
katespade - I DID made a derm appt today! I've also been reading all about facial massage (haha) to reduce eye bags and inflammation, moisturizing products, etc. for a couple days now. I'll be honest. I'm a little scared of what the dermatologist is going to say, though. Everything I'm reading makes it sound like my options are pretty severe stuff to remove the sun spots.
I got in some reading time most nights, but sacrificed sleep to do so. I'm going to work at getting to bed (and away from my computer) by 9:30 each night so I can read for 30 minutes and still get to bed by 10-ish.
This week plans:
yoga x3 (did one 20 minute video earlier!) read for at least 5 hours total for the week get a trip out of the house alone (planned for Friday)
Meal plan:
M - swai, rice, steamed broccoli T - Korean ground beef rice bowls , steamed veggies W - chicken stew in the crockpot Th - leftovers F - Su - TBD
How did you do last week? Didn't get any quality "me" time but we had a lazy weekend at home just relaxing and catching up on stuff (cleaning up, putting Christmas stuff away, etc) which was nice. I didn't leave the house at all on Sat/Sun. It helped to destress.
What are your plans for this week? (Fitness, nutrition, meal plans, etc.) After being really cold the past 2 weeks it's warming up this week so hoping to get more outdoor time in, we went for a small walk yesterday but it was still kind of cold.
AWs/Vents/Randoms/etc? Since there's lots of talk about skincare...I read something a little while back that stuck with me: if it's something you wash off (face cleaner, body wash) then go with a cheaper product. But if it's something that you leave on/absorbs into your skin, that's where you want to spend the money. Makes sense.
In the last 2-3 years I've finally gotten serious about anti-aging products, I wish I would have sooner but better late than never. Murad has a line that is for acne and anti-aging together and that is my go-to daytime moisturizer. I also have a Murad wrinkle cream and my nighttime moisturizer is L'oreal revitalift.
I still need a good undereye cream for dark circles, I've been trying a bunch of samples and nothing seems to be doing it for me.
katespade Her dog is so mellow! I've only tried yoga with a dog around once and she used downward facing dog to stick her face in mine and spent the rest of the time trying to steal my mat.
@opal - Oh my gosh, that cookie recipe looks AMAZING! I’m definitely going to make it once I have a kitchen again. lol. I like that it seems pretty flexible to make adjustments as needed. Thank you!
Honestly I never cook it (since I don't use flour it's NBD) and just mix it in a bowl. If you have access to wet ingredients like milk & maple syrup, it's pretty much just dump & mix.SaveSave

So you just mix it all up and eat the dough?? That sounds even better!

My dogs usually spend the first five minutes or so getting in my face and trying to figure out what I’m doing, then they settle down and chill next to me for the rest of the time.

You know, I’ve never thought about it that way, but that makes a lot of sense! It’s the stuff that stays on your skin that should have the biggest impact. How interesting!

Right? I forget where I read it (a magazine I think) but it was one of those moments like hmmm....why did I never think of it this way?
ewall - I’ve never heard of The Firm. I’ll have to check them out! I love going to the gym, but it’s really nice to have some at home workout options, too.
wanderingenough - Way to go on the derm appt! That always feels like the hardest step for me. Hopefully they’ll have some less scary options to offer you for your sun spots! I had a mole removed the last time I was at the derm, and I was totally shocked at how not big of a deal it was. She did it right then and there, and it was gone.

suzv - I get Botox for my migraines. Most of the shots are actually in/around my head, but a few are in the forehead. I'm always like "bonus, bye bye 11s!" Haha
katespade - Lucky! The one time I went, they cut a mole and I ended up getting a keloid scar there. Now, occasionally when I wear a tank top (inconsiderate) people will be like "what's that?"
katespade: Yes! There's nothing that needs to be cooked in it (unless you use certain flours) so it's just mix and eat.
HoneySpider: Since I'm always like "Let's do this, this, and this" on the weekend, my DH calls weekends like that stay-cations. I was just about to post about under eye circles. Is there creams that are supposed to lessen them? I have them even if I get an amazing sleep. I used to just wear concealer but I haven't replaced it since it ran out.
I have to get my tire checked and I'm going to get my hair trimmed. If I get those done quickly I'll stay out and do something extra for a bit. katespade
I got my tire fixed yesterday so I will have a little free time tomorrow. I'll probably use it to grocery shop (boring) but getting to go alone is a treat.
(((suzv))) You’ve got this! Would it help if you took a break from the scale for a while? You’re doing SUCH a great job by eating and drinking healthier, and that deserves to be celebrated!

((Hugs)) suzv. Just a thought...have you had your thyroid checked. I know some women have trouble after pregnancy...worth ruling it out. I am also struggling a little to lose the weight and am actually having to work at it...but I know that’s mostly my fault since I haven’t been consistent with my thyroid. I went to fill the prescription yesterday and somehow misplaced it. Now I need to call and have a new one written.
I managed to run twice this week (4.75 miles on Thursday and a split run today (ran C to the park and then home) for a total of 4.25 miles)! I have 3 days of 16,000+ steps too! I did go to Starbucks twice this week but only got a skinny latte which is like 1/3 the calories of my regular drinks. And I ate salad for quite a few meals. Overall, it’s been a good week!
