How often do your diapers leak? I'm trying to figure out if the amount ours leak is normal, or if our diapers just suck. I use Seventh Generation, since it's the only "natural" brand I can buy here in my small town. I change DS every 3 hours or so, or immediately if he poops. I would say the diapers leak pee about 3 times a week, mostly while BFing (he's laying on his side, so they leak out the top). When he poops, they leak out the leg holes (and onto his onesie) about 25% of the time. I just moved him up to size 4 (he's 22 lbs, size 4 goes 22-34 lbs). But all the sizes have leaked about this much.
Is this normal? Is there another "natural" brand of diapers you like? We could try Amazon. We tried CDs when he was little but the excessive changing and washing was overwhelming at the time. I'm thinking about trying them again. TIA!
We've had maybe five leaks/blowouts in the last 21 months. We used Pampers while he was in the NICU (nothing I had input into) and since leaving we've mostly used Earth's Best (subscribe and save from Amazon). I tried the 7th Gen but they fit small (and I have a tiny kid so that's saying something) and they just weren't right.

nope, but we use Pampers & the Sam's brand.
I think we've had MAYBE 2 blowouts that I can recall with poop. With pee it usually comes up the front while she's sleeping (tummy sleeper) and that's usually a good sign that she's ready to go up a size diaper at night.
we used to have problems with newborn poops leaking if the diaper was too full of pee, but we haven't had issues in a while. we use both huggies and target diapers.
My pampers swaddlers leaked pee on 2x when I fogot to point the penis down. Otherwise never. They leaked poo maybe 5x in the 12+ months I have used them. I think you need to try another brand for sure.
I had a free box of luvs and they leaked poo everytime.
We've used Target brand for daytime diapers and Huggies Overnights for bedtime. We actually STOPPED using the night time diapers because they actually leak MORE than the day time Target brand. So, now we use Target for all day and never have problems.

Huggies and Target brand rarely leak for us. We have pee leaks overnight occasionally (1-2 times per month). We've only had 1 poop leak and that's when DS was in his jumperoo (not the diaper's fault).

We always used Pampers.
They basically never leak. The only time they regularly leaked was when DD was tiny (under 6 months and still EBF) and her poo was just too liquid (and voluminous) -- every single time she pooped, it went out the top back of her diaper. That happened for a few months.
Other than that, the only time they leak is if she's sleeping and they just get too full, then the pee will leak out the top/sides. Or sometimes even the entire outside will be sort of damp.
H has leaked maybe 5 times Ever, both cloth and disposable. I think some kids are just shaped to fit diapers better. A friend has a kid who leaks all the time and she's tried every kind of diaper out there. I've used the seventh gen diapers without issue.
Almost never; we use cloth except when traveling for multiple days.
I'd either use cloth or switch to diapers that work. I just use huggies when we use them; nothing biodegrades in a landfill anyway and DS hasn't reacted to any of the chemicals in sposies.
We've had a couple and most of the time they leaked because my H didn't have them on right. We've always used Pampers Swaddlers. I tried Huggies when he was in size 1s and they sucked. Every single diaper leaked and when I put one underneath some water it soaked up almost none. I threw them all out. Recently we switched to Huggies snug and dry from costco and they made him break out in the worst diaper rash I had ever seen. We switched back to Swaddlers and he was fine within a day.
Never had an issue with that. We have had maybe one blowout. We used Pampers for a long time but I just switched to Target brand during the day and Pampers Night time at night.

We had a lot of blowouts at around that age (6-7mths). We used pampers. We switched to Huggies and never looked back. The waistband made a huge difference.
I still find it ironic your name is supergreen yet you don't CD.
Heh I know. We waited until his cord stump fell off at 14 days old before trying CDs. At the time, he had just started sleeping GLORIOUS 4-hour stretches. Being wet never bothered him. When we tried CDs, he woke up crying every time he got wet. We used pre-folds w/ covers, and after just 30 minutes the whole pre-fold would be soaking wet. Plus with our small stash of 20 pre-folds, I had to start doing laundry twice a day. At the time, it was completely overwhelming so we quit. I figured, if this is the.one.thing in our lives that's disposable I'm okay with it.
He'd obviously fit into his Flip diapers now. But we have 18 inserts and 6 covers, so I'd still have to do laundry every day. But I've been thinking of trying it again. It seems like so much can go wrong though. Can't use diaper creams, possible yeast, etc... Plus poop doesn't come out of his onesies, I don't see how it will come out of the CDs.
I'm making excuses I know. He's just such an easy baby I'm afraid to change anything. Changing diapers every 1-2 hours and two loads of laundry a day sounds like torture.
The sun gets poop out of onesies and diapers alike.
Cloth diapering isn't hard; prefolds just suck. I never changed more often in cloth than I do in disposables. If you own them, you should really give it another shot.
I wish I had a good non-CD answer for you, but when we've had to used disposables, there's the occasional blow out...they're just only so good.
I'm sure you'll hear it a lot, but one of my big reasons for loving CDs is that our blowouts went to being nonexistent after we switched. I hear you about the frequent changes, but once we got into a routine, the positives outweighed the negatives for us.

Then buy more CDs so you don't do laundry as often, and get diaper styles that you can adjust absorbency so you can keep him drier. And add fleece liners.
DD had blowouts in disposables when she went to daycare, but never in CDs. She would occasionally leak, but it was always due to a fit issue of that particular CD. When we used disposables, we used Huggies Pure & Natural with no issues. Pampers leaked like a sieve on her.

.
Why not use cloth half the time? Like when you know he's going to be awake during the day - then at least you're using the stash that's already bought and paid for, you're going to use fewer disposables, youll do laundry every other day, and you still get nice dry nighttime protection.
Oh, and as I recently learned from this board, coconut oil is cloth diaper friendly bum protection

you change CDs just as often as you change disposables.
I did laundry every 2-3 days when I wasn't working (I had to use disposables at daycare).
