1. A writer that would require a LOT of traveling as research for each book that I have an endless stream of inspiration to write. Or a speech writer.
2. I would have more of a literal manager than a boss: someone who reminds me to do stuff, keeps me on schedule, helps me prioritize, keeps me honest, schedules my massages...

1. Something where I could work from home and make my own schedule (work as little or as much as I want), that doesn't involve selling something. I honestly like what I do (compensation analyst), and maybe I can turn it into a consulting job someday.
ETA: Now that I've been catching up on two of my favorites shows, The Curse of Oak Island and Hunting Hitler, I think it would be fun to work on a team trying to solve historical mysteries.
2. I actually have a really great manager and director right now, but I would love more opportunities to go to conferences. I have never been to a conference in the 8 years I've been here. I'm sure that was mostly due to budget constraints, but still...8 years is a long time to never be able to fit it in the budget.

1. I wish I knew. I think it’s something where I wouldn’t be sitting at a desk all day.
2. My current boss is pretty close to a dream. She doesn’t micromanage, she’s down-to-earth and supportive and takes me on International trips with her

1. Boutique owner, either children's or women's clothing. If our town was thriving more, I might take a chance on it. 2. My dream boss would be encouraging and flexible and would not micromanage.
1. We have a pipe dream of DH and I working for our friend's theater company. I'd do marketing/development/office management stuff, he'd act and teach. Our friends run this company already, but it's a non profit that has no money, so never gonna happen. It would be amazing though! 2. Not a micro-manager, but someone that understands my job enough to challenge me and push me. Right now my manager has no real clue what I do, so I'm just doing my own thing. It's cool, but I also miss the collaboration I had at my last job sometimes.
1. I don't know. I like what I do now minus the data entry part, however I would like a little more on my feet moving around. I think I would like a more 50/50 split. I think I would like working in a lab or plant working with my hands and then doing my analysis based off of my own observations.
2. I have a fairly good one now. Not a micro manager. Willing to help and give guidance as needed. He values work life balance and is very competent in what he does. Currently the only thing he needs to work on is managing non motivated employees. He finds it easier to ignore them then manage them, but he is getting there.

1. What is your dream job?
I think being a tutor. I love working with kids, but I don't think I'd like being a tutor that much. Or maybe being a college professor who organizes trips to Europe as part of their job? BC why would you have to travel if you were a tutor, and I included travel in with my dream boss, lol?
Actually if I just had my job, but it was part time with travel to fun places, it would be ideal.
2. What does your dream boss look like?
Someone who not only develops me, but gives me all the credit for my successes. Someone who takes me on trips to conferences or to see restaurants and/or hotels. That's actually possible with my current job but I've never had that opportunity.
My current manager guards certain things all for himself, which makes him less than ideal. But he compensates me well and I feel appreciated by him and others in my organization so I'mm still happy.
I’m bad at this - I have had two of my dream jobs and neither were a good fit - especially not teaching at a university. Ugh. So I think it’s less about the career and more about 1) solid, strong company 2) working remotely most of the time at this point in my life 3) compensation - there are things I’d love to do that don’t pay so...a sellout I continue to be.
2. A person who actually adds value - direction and mentoring.

1. My dream job would be in the music industry as a music producer or DJ. But it's not realistic. Something more realistic would be a writer since that is what I like to do in my free time. If I lived closer to a big city with corporations, I could see myself becoming a counterfeit goods consultant/expert.
2. My current boss is great at not being a micromanager, mostly because he doesn't understand the day to day aspect of my job. It works for me, but I wish he would micromanage and motivate my other coworkers that don't have the same work ethic that I do. I wish he did know how I did my job so I could bounce ideas off of him.
1. I would love to be a ride designer and engineer at Disney World. I have so many great ideas for rides and ways to improve rides and I am an engineer, so it's possible, but not probable. 2. A boss who doesn't micro manage but is not above getting down and dirty and working along side us if needed. Someone who understands work life balance and that kids get sick.
1. I like accounting/taxes most of the time. There is just times when it gets so annoying dealing with clients. Then we have continuing education and you walk out after listening to all the penalties you could get for making a mistake and I go do I really want to do this.

I know someone (a good friend of DH's from college) who does this. And yes, she loves her job.
1. What is your dream job? If I wasn't doing engineering in the medical industry, I would be an engineer for NASA, working in mission control.
2. What does your dream boss look like? Someone who believes in me and my skills to get a task done in my own way. Also, I need a boss who gives me stretch assignments to expand my skill set.

1. Depends on my age. Currently - my job, but part time so I can go drop off / pick up my kids from school and spend more time with them. Once the kids are in university - CEO of a institutional investment firm (not PE as companies like Blackrock/Blackstone scare me), but I LOVE the capital markets and think it'd be a super cool job.
2. Someone who is flexible and who genuinely cares about mentoring. My current boss is good at mentoring but is entirely not flexible.

So jealous!!! Does she work in Orlando or California? Most of the jobs I see posted are in California. I apply for all the ones listed in Orlando.

Orlando. She works on cool rides also. Snow White Diamond Mind comes to mind.
When she first started working there she worked on Small World and she would be "on call" and would get a page on a pager when it would break down.
She also works on more mundane things like coffee carts and stuff. Getting utilities to the cart. She seemed as excited about that as she was about the even working on the rides...so to me that says she's a generally very happy person.
1. Philanthropist; where I had unlimited funds to use my analytical skills to decide where my funds were most likely to succeed. 2. One that is good at constructive feedback with lots of examples and suggestions.

Oh this is what I really want to do. Totally.
I don't know why I'm so invested in getting the "right" answer to this hypothetical question. Maybe I'm dreaming that we'll win the lottery. Which would have to be DH winning it since I don't play.
1. I like my job at the university, I just wish that I had infinite grant funding, and didn't have to keep writing those. I love the teaching and research parts.
2. I don't really have a boss, I have a department head, but in general faculty don't have a ton of oversight, which I really enjoy.

1. For a while now I've just been dreaming about being further along in my landscape architecture career. I love the field and I feel like I have good project management skills. But I'm not feeling confident that it's financially viable in the long term, now that I'm a single income family. It's hard to dream anymore without reality creeping in all the time.
2. My current boss is pretty awesome. She gives me a lot of autonomy, and she is always very clear about expectations and doesn't mind questions when I have them. Plus she brought me groceries when I was sick. She doesn't have kids of her own, but she is heavily involved with her sister's kids, and she gets it about needing to have a balance and having the responsibility of parenting. I have not had many bosses like this in my time.
1. I want to be a lawyer with the TimesUp movement. I love employment law plus sticking it to the patriarchy. But I need them to pay me at least what I’m making now, which is doubtful. Ooooh. Or better. I want to run the law portion of the TimesUp movement!
2. Someone who lets me do my job and fights like hell for me when I need it, which isn’t all that often.
