I finished The House at Tyneford yesterday and I ended up really liking it. The atmosphere was lovely and definitely had a Downton Abbey feel in a lot of ways -- big country house, the squire and his son, servants and the politics of classes blending. The book starts slowly and loses a little steam at the very end, but it's a page turner through most of it. Worth a read, IMO -- it was quick for me.
Glad you liked it! I can't think of any others I've read that are similar. I've heard good things about Lady Almina and the Real Downton Abbey but I haven't read it yet. Have you tried Kate Morton's books? They all have modern day stories intertwining with earlier times, and some are in that era.
