1) My baby will be ONE this weekend. Holy cute. 2) My big girl has be "potty trained" since July, but we have still been waking her up around midnight to have a potty break. Last night was the 3rd in a row that we went without the wake-up and there was no accident!
We're home from our week vacation to Mexico. It was great, but not relaxing at all with a 1 year old and 5 year old. I'm not as tanned as I usually get!
Getting right back in the swing of things with a mile long to do list both at work and home.

My aunt's cancer is still spreading. Now supposedly they want to try chemo, which they told her in the beginning wouldn't work on the type of cancer she has. (I hear all this through my dad, who is her brother.) So it feels like they're grasping at straws. And it makes me mad that they will go that route (at her cost financially and physically) when it sounds like they are pretty confident it won't work. I gave my dad two names of holistic/naturopathic doctors as a different option and he passed them along to her, but he doesn't know if she contacted either one.
I mentioned on another post recently that I've never gotten to go to a work conference, but today my manager told me that I was approved to go to a national conference in May! So excited!

Things seem to be improving at my job. I can't be more specific than that but it makes me feel better, even though I think it's too soon to tell if it will keep improving or tank.

My TWERKS are all vents (and FWPs)
1. DD is back to crying about going to daycare again. I'm hoping it's just because of the long Christmas break. 2. We finally have DD's room repainted and redecorated. Now the next step is to try and convince her to actually sleep in it. We tried last night and both her and DS freaked. She actually ran back to DS's room half a dozen times (we walked her back to her room every time), until DS decided to barricade his door so that DH and I can't take her back to her room. Which is super sweet...but annoying. I'd continue to let them sleep in DS's room, except that she wakes up in the middle of the night and then refuses to go back to sleep so we end up co-sleeping with her in our room, and she is the worst sleeper, so we get no sleep. If we leave her in DS's room, she just cries, and that wakes up DS. 3. I've been actively exercising for 6 weeks and my pants are still tight.
More of a random than a twerk. After years of trying to get her on board with my music tastes, DD finally found a song we can both agree to love. The "lasagna" song. AKA Good Old Days by Macklemore and Kesha. (Apparently "life's gonna" sounded like lasagna to her.
This is a momentous time in my life. There's only so much Shake it Off and the Bean Bag Boogie I can take.
My continued weather, workplace rant. If I didn't like the work, and benefits I'd be out.
We are supposed to get ice and snow tomorrow. Courthouses, library, business, schools all closed. Are we, no. We need to ski on in, to show face in the office and look at each other, because all events and meetings are cancelled. Could I get some desk work done after white knuckling in, sure. Could I do it at home? Yes, every bit of it. But, we, the college educated, most of us 30+ have to be monitored in the actual workplace. If we cant make it in, we can take vacation. Because that's how I like to spend precious vacation time, snowed in. This is when I wish I worked in the private sector were there is a little more common sense and not so much bureaucratic bullshit.
k3am, that is hilarious! Char will argue til she's blue in the face that Queen's "We Will Rock You" has the words "Lady Gaga" in it. She wasn't even born yet!

traveltheworld, my son used to cry going to daycare and preschool and even when he started school. Breaks or even weekends were the death of me. He’d just get into the groove and then there’d be a break. I hope she feels comfortable soon.
My FIL was diagnosed with a lymphoma type cancer last year that has been tied to agent orange (he’s a Vietnam Vet). He had one round of chemo and the PET scan showed more spots. Then he went for round 2 with a more aggressive chemo and his PET is unchanged. At least there isn’t more but it’s crazy to me that nothing changed. He’s now trying a new chemo. I really hope this works. Cancer is a bitch.
After a nice warm (54) but rainy day yesterday, we’re back to 25 degrees. Tomorrow, even colder. Sigh.

Plumbers charged us $1700 and billed for 10 hours, so they ate the apprentice’s screw up, we already sent them the money and I am relieved this wasn’t 31K omg.
