It's a snow day here anyway. I can WFH effectively when DD is at school, but when she is home it's a nightmare. She already threw a fit because I would only let her eat one donut (not something we typically eat) and made her eat yogurt. She wanted cereal. No, no donut plus cereal; you need protein GDI. Obviously because you are 8 and throwing a tantrum. Grrrr.

I'm at work. I spent the weekend in Nashville for a friends 40th birthday. It was a blast, but so so cold. So much for going somewhere warmer in January.
I'm fighting off the worst crud. It knocked me on my ass for 3 days last week, now it's settled in my chest. I just want to be able to take a deep breath without going into a coughing fit.

All of the Uber drivers kept saying "oh, this is no big deal to you Michigan people!" Well, no, it's really not, but that fact that it was actually WARMER in Michigan while we were in TN really sucked. lol!
We have an ice day today. But I came into work to get my laptop. A wise person would have taken the laptop home but I am not a wise person.
I hate weathermen. You can NEVER tell around here when you need to listen to them and when you don't. So annoying.
February is the month for winter ratings, so if the meteorologists are going to inflate the chances of snow/ice (more than just a little), it will happen in February. Since it is January, you can trust it a little more.
It was all hype here. I am super bummed as I bought in to the insanity and grabbed a chocolate fondue kit from Williams Sonoma and I was excited to eat that in the middle of the work day with the kids. Saving it in hope that it does ice or snow later this winter! DD can have it — I paid $14 for marshmallows that she can have, it better ice!

No snow day here. Just a delay. I hope to God there isn't a snow day tomorrow. DS needs school.
Here is a WWYD scenario: Asshole told a handful of clients everything and said he didn't have them sign applications for the new place I went into his office yesterday to see if his mailbox key was in there, and also take a mental inventory of what was in there. Found an envelope addressed to Client A. It's not an envelope for our agency, but just a blank envelope. I am making calls to the handful of clients and Client A said Asshole had him SIGN AN APPLICATION
Would you open the envelope to see what was in it? Asshole isn't here this morning.

No snow here. Just PNW gloom and rain. I may be doing a prisoner transport today, which is over a 2 hour drive and will be slower with rain. I hope my transport partner is someone I like talking to.
It has been unseasonably warm here - at least 50 degrees for the past 3 days. Our most local ski resort had to shut down operations due to lack of snow and melting. They are forecasting snow for mountain locations starting tomorrow and going through the weekend. I am hoping it actually happens. The kids are signed up for ski/snowboarding lessons in February. If our weather doesn't change, there will be no snow in February.
erinshelley21 - I think mail tampering might be a federal offense. I’d go with what you know and go hard core on the offense. I’d meet with those six clients, proactively meet with the rest of his book and move forward.

So I can't open an envelope that is addressed to one of my agency's clients in an envelope that I am 99.9% sure came from my supply room?

Can I told it hostage? lol
It hasn't been mailed yet, and because you are the employer, I think you have every right to open it and read it.
ETA: And think of it as any employer would if their employee was trying to divert business to another company (a competitor, no less) while still employed. That should be a fire-able (sp?) offense.

No snow/ice day here, but the roads were terrible! It took me about an hour to get to work due to slow traffic and accidents. Had I not had to come in today for a volunteer event, I would have worked from home.
The 2-3 inches forcast Friday and 1 inch yesterday is 8 inches here. They couldn't focast a snowstorm correctly yesterday.
Dh got a ride to work, and I took the truck. I'll try getting my car out of the garage later today.
Dd still has a cold. I was an hour late making sure she was ok before coming in today. I feel like it has settled in her chest, but I don't want to take her in to the doctor, because she may pick up something worse. The flu is rampant here and has been awful.
Snow day is going to be tomorrow around here. Looks like it's starting tonight with 5-8 inches before tomorrow night. The bummer part is Wednesday is my standing work from home day so I don't get an extra one due to the storm. Hopefully DS's school will stay open (they never close!) but we will see!

@erinshelley You're not letting him into the office again right? I'd pack up his perrsobal stuff and leave It for him at the front.
All his business related stuff doesn't belong to him, it belongs to you. The lette is addressed to your client and it's not been mailed. I wouldn't give him the envelope. If you don't want to open it I'd just leave it in your office.

He can't get into the building unless I'm here or my brother is here, so he at least won't be here unsupervised. My brother went ahead and let him schedule a meeting for the 2 of them with one of our top 10 clients and I need to know where all of his work from last week is, so he has to come in the office.

Is the letter stamped? I’m not sure it matters. If it isn’t in the mail, it’s not mail. I would hold it, ask him what it is, and tell him to open it and show you. Otherwise, you’re shredding it. This guy is such a mfing scumbag. Even better, call your lawyer and ask how to handle it. And start using terms like tortious interference with a business relationship.

I was coming at this from a “no litigation” perspective — but if you are truly done with him now, I say go for it. Don’t let him get in your head about your Dad or anything else and nail his anatomy to the wall.
Another thought - can your brother make a splash? Partner with someone in a related business or two to put on a speaker or reception and get some of your clients in for face time? Waaaay back in the day it really built loyalty to up the face time and bind people to you by “giving” them something. Even now at work I am more loyal to people who do things like buy me lunch when I am in town - it just builds good will, and you can never have enough of that.
I hope you know you have quite the cheering section here. Love this board.

mommyatty, not stamped. I just told my mom that if he wants his commission check that I'm still not 100% sure I'm going to give him, then he will open it or he will watch me send it through the shredder. My attorney is in court all day on Tuesdays dealing with things that actually matter like domestic violence. 2chatter, I've reached the pissed off point of this process, so he won't be getting in my head. We tried doing a reception type thing a few years ago and it just didn't work. Our clients are really spread out and its hard to draw them in. We've made it a point to have a lot of face time with our clients over the last 5 years, and thankfully my brother has met half of the people the asshole talked too. I've dealt with a couple others, but have never met. I've gotten good feedback from the 2 bigger clients I talked too today. One is most likely sticking with us because he's been here for over a decade and the other told asshole he'd probably stay with him does want to talk to us before he decides for sure.
I am so thankful for this board. You guys have been some of the best support I've had over the last few years and have been instrumental in me not being admitted to the loony bin! We're almost done with the erinshelley messes hopefully!

Here's another one. He's officially turned in his notice, he has been denied access to our systems and building. Can I have his email forwarded to mine?
erinshelley21, If he has officially resigned, effective immediately, I'm pretty sure everything is yours. In theory, couldn't you have access to his email at any time anyway since you're the boss?
