Still no accidents since being PT and he loves wearing his big boy underwear.
He's been helping me cook. We made pizza the other night and I had to make myself back off because he knew how to do things that I wanted to help or do hand-over-hand with. And he did great.
DD has had a big leap in reading recently. She is wearing OTC reading glasses at school during work time and at home during reading time, and she is reading a "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" book really easily, which is several levels above her usual level. . I am wondering if it is the glasses (either because of an undiagnosed visual issue, visual processing issue, or because it just makes the words bigger and cuts out some of the field of vision due to magnification), the font (more like handwriting so maybe the letters are less similar or the spacing is different?), the content of the book (she likes the book more), the drawings on the pages (more drawings, fewer words per page), or if she was just ready.
We added in half a 5 mg Ritalin twice a day over the weekend, with dr approval, and she smoked in her basketball game. 4 points, 3 fouls, but she got lots of shots that she just didn't quite make or a tall kid blocked and she tied the ball up in a jump ball a lot of times, which is good because the other team had possession about 75% of the time. We only lost 11-6 which is actually really good for our team lol. She's the only one who fouled anyone, but also the only one who successfully stole the ball. And I was impressed she had picked up and was following some of the more subtle rules of the game; one time I watched her wait until the INSTANT the ball crossed the center line as the other team was advancing to go for it and steal it, which she ran in for a goal. Keeping in mind she is literally a foot shorter than the average player on the other team!
Today is the first day trying the Ritalin in the AM at school. So far no obvious increase in anxiety, but it is early. If we get through a week or two with success, we'll add in a dose after lunch. Anyone know if schools can give 1/2 a tablet assuming the doctor will write the instructions/Rx that way? Do we cut it or do they? I know it has to be in the original Rx bottle with the correct dose instructions.

Gah! I had a whole thing typed up the other day and thought I posted it but I guess I failed.
No worries, I have a new one: After much weeping and gnashing of teeth on Friday, DS finally got to read to his class on Monday during their end-of-day ritual. He did great! I caught the end of it when I arrived to pick up -- he was reading one of the books he has been working on for the last month or so, and he sounded really good. Which was a surprise to me, because I had not read this book with him since before Christmas. So maybe he practiced it with his dad or grandma over Christmas, I'm not sure. But the teacher came over to me as we were getting his things together and told me how impressed he was at how expressive DS was during his reading. I'm hoping to get him to read to me again this week to see if the expression is scripted, but I'm proud anyhow!
