1) right now, king cake 2) one of my directs has me blocked on Insta and has been posting only there about a total, extremely different career change. Other people at work have shared this with me - I don’t know why she didn’t block other managers!!
1. Frosting. Like... melt a pat of butter in a bowl, add some powdered sugar and some milk, stir it up, eat off spoon. If I'm really having a day, I'll add some cocoa powder.
2. My coworker's baby daddy (who is also a coworker) is a hardcore Jehovah's Witness. I had no idea. And his sister is the CEO's assistant. Of which I also had no idea. Nothing too exciting.

1) What is your favorite guilty snack?
Donuts. Is that a snack?
2) What is something surprising you’ve learned about a friend or coworker that seemed totally out of character?
The head of our IT department has 6 kids and his wife home schools all of them. I totally found this shocking b/c he did NOT seem like the type at all. He's also catholic, which adds to the mystery to me. Not the large family part, but the home school part because I don't associate homeschooling with Catholics. Not in our area at least.

1. Cheese. Or an It's It ice cream sandwich
2. Not about one specific coworker, but my coworkers in general. I can't believe how many affairs have happened over the years, and that they weren't kept secret.
1. So. Many. Favorites. Cheese for savory. Some sort of cookie for sweet. I’m a little cookie’d out after Christmas, but I will love them again soon.
2. One of my former directs - I hired her, coached her because she had some difficulty dealing with people, we worked together for almost a decade, I promoted her, always treated her and introduced her as my peer... cut me off when I left work. Canceled our last few check in meetings, told others some not-great things about me, etc. It is frustrating and puzzling. I always tried to do right by her because she always worked hard.
Another one - hard core sales guy that I used to work with in the financial world is a classical pianist. He used to play a benefit show each year for the city food bank. His playing could bring you to tears. Completely unexpected.
2. One of my former coworkers is a drag queen. He does shows all over the country. He has never officially told me, but if I ever get the chance, I'm going to a show.
1. Chips and queso. Or chips and salsa. Pretty much chips with any dip.
2. One of my employees is rich. Like inherited tens of millions, a couple of ranches and grain silos and feed lots and shit tons of land. He comes across as this geeky science nerd who’s just a good old boy from a small town in Texas whose mama owned a beauty shop and daddy worked the family ranch. All those things about him are true, but his mama who owned the beauty shop also helps bankroll major society events in North Texas and he’s in regular touch with some of the wealthiest people in Texas. Like they hug him when they see him. I only found this out at Earth Day Texas when 1) his mama had bought several tables, and 2) a bunch of real estate moguls came up to him to tell him to thank his mama for her support and to let them know when he was ready to go hunting with them. It was shocking.

1. Chips. 2. One of the senior executives at my company used to be a professional opera singer. You don't see a lot of that in an investment firm - which is usually dominated by jocks / I-banking types.

1. About once a month or every other month, I get a craving for a cinnamon crunch bagel from Panera. I eat the entire thing and then I’m good for another month or so
2. A few years ago, I noticed that one of DDs friends Mom’s had a tatoo. She comes off as conservative and somewhat buttoned up so it surprised me.
1. Sweets of any kind - I'm awful about self control. I can polish off a large bag of M&Ms or a whole package of cookies, no questions asked. It's bad. 2. My former work wife, who is one of the smartest, most capable marketers/managers I know, quit her job and started selling essential oils and home schooling her kids.

1. Nachos or chips and dip. I’m all about the savory. 2. My coworker writes poetry — which I knew — but I recently read some and it is actually very good. This has not been my past experiences with coworkers asking me to read their creative works.

1. So many foods, I don't think I could pick one. Many were mentioned by others. Donuts, chips and queso, Oreos, my mom's homemade pies...
2. The president of the last company I was at had an affair with the PR agent (who was employed by an outside firm). I was really shocked, because the president did not seem like a cheater. He and his wife had 4 younger kids. The president ended up divorcing his wife and marrying the PR lady. Then, the two exes ended up getting married.

1. French fries with ranch. It goes by another name also: The International Undefeated Dietbreaker in all weight classes.
2. I swear to god I know a former Olympic iceskater or something, but I'm totally blanking right now.
ETA: I got one! A friend of mine from college who was in the most uptight sorority and seemed to be so uptight and judgy and prim and proper herself, graduated and wrote porn for a few years and made a very nice living. She even gained some notoriety under her pen name. She lived in NYC and did and sought out all the things she would write about as research, then decided she needed to do something else. She was my drinking buddy. I have the best drinking buddies.
waverly, I legit laughed at 2. Such a concise and descriptive sentence.
I mean if you are going to leave your husband and father of two kids he should at least be rich, mostly clean cut, hot and have fashion sense? Amirite?
1. Creamy peanut butter straight from the jar on a spoon, bonus points if someone left the peanut butter in the fridge and its cold. 2. That one of my co workers is super religious, he got married in a church wedding last year, which isn't too strange in the midwest. The reception was in the church hall and dry with no dancing. I've never been to an evening wedding with no dancing even, although I have been to dry weddings. He invited almost all of the faculty in our department, and everyone was surprised. I grew up in an Irish catholic church, so tons of weddings that had receptions at the church had alcohol at their weddings, or even just other church events.

1. vanilla ice cream with melted peanut butter. I think. Or chips and dip. I don't care what kind of dip it is. 2. That Asshole was that. Just all of what he's said/done in the last 4 years has been surprising. When I agreed to let him come work here I had no idea what his true colors were.
