DH and I are looking for airfare to Peru (departing the end of April and returning in mid-May) and found great prices on Copa Airlines. I admit I haven't heard of them, so I wanted to see if anyone here had used them and what your experience was. Thanks!
I've flown them from Rio to Houston once (via Panama City). They were a very close partner with Continental (Continental owned 51% of Copa) and even shared the OnePass frequent flier program and the old Continental logo. Since the United merger they changed the logo to make it a little more unique. They did switch over to MileagePlus for their frequent flyer program, and still offer complimentary upgrades to higher-tier elite members.
Service-wise, they're a 3-star airline, and really not too much different from the US carriers. I really don't remember too much about my flights at all. Nothing noticeably good or bad. In fact, the only thing I remember at all from that flight was that at my connection in Panama City the gate staff insisted that I dig out my actual MileagePlus card to prove that I was eligible for Priority Access boarding (but I'm not sure the check-in desk in Rio marked my status on my boarding pass, so I can't really fault them too much). And I had a good impression of the Copa Club at PTY.

I have flown COPA several times to Central and South America. They are totally fine and if the price is right or you collect Mileage Plus miles then I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Ditto this. They're a perfectly fine airline (and will actually feed you, unlike most U.S. carriers these days).

Ditto everyone else. Just flew them to Cuba (got back yesterday), and we had a fine flight with food. They're often a good option to Central and South America. The airport in Panama City is nice and known for its duty free, and we had no problems with a layover of only an hour, which I was a little nervous about.
