I know there was another Grey's thread down below but I wanted to chat more about it and clearly that will mean spoilers. lol
First, i'm so upset that Lexie died and that her and Mark didn't get to be together. Like pretty much heartbroken about it. I really liked Lexie's character. I would rather it have been Arizona that died (then Kerev could have just taken over for her at Seattle Grace).
Second, i'm mad that they didn't have another hour and show the docs at least getting saved or something. I hope there isn't a time jump when season 9 starts and they at least start from where they left off to show them getting saved or close to it, at least.
Lastly, I thought everything that went on in the hospital was boring. It could have easily been spiced up more if they found out about the crash in the beginning and were freaking out about everyone, at the least!
The season premiere will be all about the rescue, so that way they have a dramatic season opener.
I thought it was boring and also really gross. I didn't really care that Lexie died but I've never liked that character. The first half was good, but the second half was boring to me, with a whole bunch of stomach churning gross injuries to make me feel ill.
Overall I thought it was a total letdown after all the hype.
I'm with you on Lexie - I really liked her and that story line and I wanted her and Mark together, damn it!
I'm wondering what it means for next season - with Altman gone, maybe Christina stays? What happens to Mark? He can't go back to being the womanizer. I really don't like Kerev. He's less of a jerk now than in the past, but I can still do without him. I wouldn't mind if he left the show.
I still think Arizona could end up dying. Did anyone else feel like they were setting us up for that the way Callie was talking?
I'm also sick of Webber. I don't really think he's doing anything for the story line anymore.
Summary of beginning for Fox (moved from other thread to keep spoilers in one place):
Not sure how much you missed, but...
Meredith woke up from the crash and she and Christina went and tried to figure out where everyone was. Meredith was mostly looking for Derek and Christina was tending to Lexie. Christina knew Lexie would die and she left her with Mark, found Meredith (who was still freaking out about Derek) and told her to go see Lexie (which she didn't get back in time for). Mark and Lexie had a big tear-jerking i love you scene.
April continued her downward spiral now that she's unemployable and Jackson is going to Tulane.
Altman got her big job offer and told Owen that she wasn't going to take it because he needed her there since he's all broken and depressed.
Bailey and that guy are going to get married and be long distance.
OMG I agree w/the gross factor!! Really, closing up Derek's arm wound with a safety pin? Holy barfola!!
I'm glad Bailey's in love and all but her storyline = yawn fest for me. I actually like Webber's storylines better! I think he's really humorous all of a sudden, the past few episodes he had me cracking up.
OMG I agree w/the gross factor!! Really, closing up Derek's arm wound with a safety pin? Holy barfola!!
What?! OMG. I couldn't believe his first reaction was to smash his hand with a rock when he couldn't get it out of the plane reckage. You're a surgeon you need that hand(!) try hitting the rock on something to get someone's attention first.
I don't think that Lexi has been in the show enough lately so I wasn't overly upset that she died. Plus I am not sure that Mark is going to make it anyways.
I agree that they are leading up to the idea that Arizona might die.
I don't understand how they had 5 matches but couldn't get a fire started at all?
I didn't really understand what derek did with his hand. I saw his hand stuck, but it happened so fast I didn't really get what he did to get free. Why would he smash his hand with a rock and how does that get him free anyway? stupid.
I was so mad about Lexi dying. I wanted to see her and Mark get back together, but also see her relationship with Meredith evolve. And I am so mad that they killed her off at the very beginning of the show. Didn't leave much room for suspense for the rest of the episode. It was definately not my favorite season finale...
I have serious issues with the little fire with hardly any kindling. Really, I think that they could have put more stuff on it the make it bigger and use fuel as PP suggested. Or just set part of the plane with fuel leaking on fire with the match so someone could see them?! Didn't Derrick even mentioned starting a big fire so that a helicopter could find them when an aircraft was flying overhead.
I also liked Lexie. I think that Mark will die before they are rescued, so they can be together.
I definitely had to close my eyes during the safety pin suture. Gross. Arizona's leg was bad enough.
I really hope next season isn't all shock and whatever.
