DH is godfather so we don't just want to give money. The baby is our nephew and he's only a few months old. Any good ideas other than a wall cross or some kind of Bible stories book? I'm trying to think of some kind of special keepsake. Could be religious but doesn't really HAVE to be.
I can't seem to remember anything substantial that my son got as a gift! He's 7 now.
We received a wooden block that was personalized with our son’s name, baptism date, godparents names etc. it’s a very sweet momento. I google baptism wooden block and saw it on Etsy for $25. We also received money which was very much appreciated.

We started a nativity for our godson - and then add a piece or two every year. Not super exciting to have as a kid, but we hope he appreciates it as an adult. Something like Fontanini is fairly indestructible, so kids can handle them. Not very historically accurate, though.
J's godparents gifted him a Sterling silver St. Christopher Baby Pin that goes on his car seat, and that he can wear for communion & confirmation. I really liked that. He also received a nice illustrated children's bible and porcelain cross for his room.
I have b/g twins baptised as infants and they received pretty much same gifts from people. Picture frames, engraved piggy banks, lamb that sings Now I lay me down to sleep, precious moments wall cross, and religious books.
My brother is my son's godfather, and he got him a really nice set of his favorite books (Lord of the Rings) for DS to read when he's older. I thought it was a great idea! His godmother gave him money.
Our twins were baptized in November. They received silver crosses with their names engraved on them, piggy banks, picture frames, a nativity set, and some patron saint medallions. So, lots of keepsakes. They’re all displayed in the shelves in their bedroom.
My aunt and uncle bought them A Night Night Prayer by Amy Parker and that’s been our favourite since we read to them before bed every night.
The tradition in our family is a gold cross from the Godparent(s). For our son, both Godparents split the cost.
There is also a little box from Personalization Mall that you can personalize for a baptism/christening. I have purchased one for each if my nephews and have been happy with the quality (and price!)

Honestly I like the idea of starting a college fund for them. I know it’s just money. I also like the little people Noah’s ark set or nativity. Both are fun toys for the baby-preschool stage.
A Personalized Study Bible is nice too but “for later”. I would think this could be better for a confirmation gift.
