It didn't go the way I thought it would at all (in a good way).
Background: DD1 is in fourth grade, and she has ADHD, SPD, and anxiety. We had additional psychological testing done over the summer, and we got the report this fall. Some of the test results were very concerning (like a processing speed in the first percentile). After talking with DD's teacher, DH and I decided to reopen Child Study. We tried to get an MFE in kindergarten/first, but it went nowhere.
I was bracing myself to have my concerns blown off (yet again) because DD's grades have been good, and they've been especially good lately, but the team was very supportive, and they are going to finally do an MFE. I think there's a chance DD might qualify for special education services and an IEP which would be so helpful.
The school counselor has been doing small group work with DD, and the school psychologist has been helping to facilitate the group, so she actually knows DD. I really really hope we can get some better answers this time around. It would be so nice to have some support in place before the transition to middle school.
That is great news! From what I have been reading, slow processing speed is very often a function of anxiety (and can be exacerbated by testing anxiety during evals, so it may not be as bad during regular learning and day to day activities as it appears in testing.)

The testing over the summer was done prior to her starting an anxiety med, so we'll see if that makes a difference at all. The school psych wants to do further testing to see what's being impacted by anxiety vs. adhd, and she's going to do some additional autism testing because she's concerned about the social cognitive piece. Her scores on the WISC-V were all over the place. She was in the extremely high/very high range in several areas and extremely low in in processing.
The first time we went through this was just awful. There were like nine people in the room with me and DH, and the only one who was on our side was DD's kindergarten teacher. It's an entirely different team this time around--what a difference.
