Have we done this lately? Now that it's so dreary out, let's talk vacation plans!
WE JUST BOOKED!!! Omg I'm so freaking excited. We are taking an all inclusive week long vacation at Club Med Punta Cana!! We don't really have anyone who can watch our kids for days at a time, it's too much for my parents. So they have the kids club and petite care. We are going with our friends who also have 2 kids. We planned to go around February 2019, but now changed to November of this year bc it was so much cheaper. Air Miles basically covered by credit cards. It's a great deal!!
This is really big for us. My husband has only agreed to 3 actual vacations in the last 12 years. The rest have been camping trips. Don't get me wrong I love them, but there's so much cooking cleaning packing and unpacking that it's really not a vacation.
We will go camping plenty but it's a real life vacation!!!!!
You guys I'm so excited about this all inclusive!! A real vacation at a beach! And I don't have to cook ANYTHING! I'm gonna fly on a plane for the first time in 10 years!

I’m so excited. We have booked Aulani for our family vacation in July. I can’t wait.
Dh and I are heading to Europe in May (my first time) and are debating where to go. Heavily leaning towards the Monoco Grand Prix or Barcelona.
This year will be epic for travel but we’ve been putting things off and realize we need to live it up and not let life hold us back. Work hard play hard!

campermom , I'm super jealous! I tried to convince DH that we should go there this winter but I wasn't successful. We are taking the kids to Florida in a few weeks and will go to Colorado this summer. DH and I are planning to go on a kid free getaway this fall but we haven't decided where yet.
DH and I are going on a vacation, just the two of us, for 7 days to Riviera Maya in July. I can't wait! We just finalized our flights this week and ended up with really sweet, non stop options down and back, which makes me happy. I'm so looking forward to a week of checking out and relaxing, just the two of us!
Jealous of the booked vacations! We almost decided on New York, but a couple of friends just returned from St.John, so now I feel like I will not be happy if I don't see a beach, sun and sand. So we could be anywhere from the Gulf , to the Rockies, to New York, to DC, so not super specific yet.

We're going back to the Adirondacks this year. I know this isn't as exciting as all the Caribbean vacations listed above, but we LOVE the ADKs, and since we moved to NC, it's a little harder to get there. Very much looking forward to it.

We are heading to Mexico in 2 weeks. We are staying at a brand new resort which includes free admission to multiple eco-theme parks (only way I can convince DH to do an AI). My parents will be coming along as my (69 year old) Dad wants to do tons of snorkeling and zip-lining.
Then we are taking the kids to France in May - Paris + Provence. I'm so excited.
Other than than, we have 2 long weekend camping trips planned for the summer, but that's it. I might try to squeeze in an adults-only trip to the east coast to see my best friend and her new baby at some point.
traveltheworld - I am lobbying hard for Mexico for eco resorts - we did Xel Ha and loved it — and it’s perfect for this group (plastic lunchroom cups and beer on tap, with cans where you put the cup all around). You will have to share your ecotour experiences!

Dh and I are going to Charleston in May. We have the hotel booked but still need to do flights.
My HS bff's and I have talked about doing a HS spring break reunion but nothing has been decided and one of their mom's just started chemo this month so not sure how that will impact the trip.
Hilton Head in June for a week. Last year was so perfect that I’m borderline scared this year will be a letdown.
Trying to decide if we should do a Spring Break trip. Skiing would be fun, but I’m not sure the kids are ready for that. DS is 3 but well-coordinated and brave. DD is 5, somewhat well-coordinated but an utter chicken.

If you want a great excursion book with Local Quickies. He’s amazing and totally chill!

Disney World the first week of December! Staying at the Polynesian resort! We've wanted to stay there for a while, and were able to rent Disney Vacation Club (their timeshare) points so that it's in our budget.

when you do that is it the same as staying in a room on property or is it different in any way?

A lot of you have some amazing vacations planned!
DH is a CPA so we typically don’t do anything for Spring Break but this year, I think I’ll take the kids to visit my parents who live outside of San Antonio for a few days.
We’ve yet to book it, but we’re planning for an OBX vacation in June with my sister’s family and my parents. It is one of my favorite places on earth yet I haven’t been there in 10 years. Can’t believe it’s been that long. I used to live there so it will be nice to show the kids one of the places I lived as a kid (military brat).

Oh cool! We are staying at the new Xcaret Hotel Mexico and it includes free admission to Xcaret, Xplor, Xel-Ha, Xenses as well as tours to Copa, Tulum and another cenotes tour.
We are only going for 6 days, but DH and my Dad want to hit every single one of those. I'm just going to try and do a few and then stay back at the hotel with DD and lounge, or as much as you can lounge with a 2 year old in tow.
We don’t have anything planned. ILs has been talking about doing a big family trip in March, but gave up on organizing and just booked a trip for themselves.
DH is now pushing to do a kid free vacation this spring. Maybe Paris. We really should do a trip ourselves before baby #3, but I get overwhelmed by finding a time to go (lots of conflicting work, daycare, and grandparent schedules) and all the coordination to leave the boys.

Taking the boys to DC over Presidents Day. Nothing planned for the spring. Trying to squeeze in a Chicago weekend with some college friends in June. Summer will probably be OBX because it's nice and close.
September we are going to Germany for our 10 year anniversary and DH's 40th. I thought we were going to Charleston in October, but DH was confused and we are staying in state and headed to his college town. However, this is also the same weekend as my college reunion and I have a lot of friends coming to town. We haven't figured all out the logistics yet. Consolation prize, he did book a super nice hotel, so I'm looking forward to that.
traveltheworld - I may just be an idiot, but I hated the new resort hotel website. Can you book room and one park packages? Thinking arrival day, park day, beach day with late departure (Fri-Sun).
Also add on - DD is taking up my travel offer. She requested a camping and kayaking trip for her 14th birthday instead of a party. I so cannot wait. We will do a cabin (safety, I am a wuss) - not sure where but thinking Texas Hill Country or maybe even Enchanted Rock.
We’re doing Disney in February and then likely taking a vacation hiatus while we see how things play out with selling/buying houses.
Question for you... DH’s parents and brother have been trying to plan a family vacation for the whole extended family. (BIL has no kids, SIL is married and has two). Do you vacation with your extended families? This sounds like fresh hell to me.
I have a hard time tolerating my inlaws for the afternoon. The only location they’re willing to consider is a 6-10 hour drive, and they want to stay only at one hotel that doesn’t have suites. (FWP. I’m a snob and I want a suite. I hate nap/7pm bedtime jail.)
k3am, other than my MIL, absolutely, 100 percent, not on your life am I vacationing with extended family, especially in law extended family. Ever. Hell would freeze over first.
