I have a position opening up - reports to me, is not local to me. I’d like to see if my friends know anyone because I have had bad luck with consultants off the street. LinkedIn? How? The req is live on job sites so I can link to it. Also I DNW random people reaching out to me. I want my friends/connections to tell me if they know someone. In the past, friend’s Great Aunt Clara or disabled but looking to work on the side neighbor have all but stalked me because friends have been like “hey 2chatter is hiring someone, it’s not what you do at all but maybe she can help you”.
Also, is it weird to ask two moms I know who work for other financial firms doing what I do if they know anyone (I know they work with people in at least one of the three cities I will hire from)? I reached out to the folks I have worked with before, none of them are looking, but I assume others know people they might check with? Or is that weird? I’d totally check with people if I knew one of these two were hiring. And..one of them isn’t happy at work so I am wondering if other people she works with also aren’t happy, but I won’t suggest that.
I'd put it on LinkedIn as a status to your page, but don't expect a whole ton of action from it.
I also usually throw a link to a job post up on my Facebook account, even though I know I'll get the crazies who are in no way qualified. My canned response is "Just apply through the link, we have to follow strict processes for hiring and that funnels it the right way." Which is totally not true, but people believe it.
I'd definitely reach out to the two moms you know too. That's a perfect network to tap into!
I have everyone apply through Indeed.com but ask friends/referrals for names to “look out for” when resumes come-in. I also hand-out my work email and encourage people to send me an email stating their interest. They can attach a resume or just write-out their info in the email. I used to do that with graduating college students getting into the job market. But now a days they all have resumes.
You can ignore a lot of job seekers that come through Indeed. Look for the names that were recommended, and go from there.
I totally forgot to ask the moms. DD was in goal first half and she was such a train wreck I had hives. They don’t have a goalie and semi rotate, but this was DD’s second turn this season and she allowed a goal (they usually shut out). It was awful watching her be so upset.
