I actually had a really good month of reading so I had to start the thread! I read 5 books this month which hasn't happened in forever. All were good. None were great.
The Identicals by Erin Hilderbrand--4* Summer Sisters by Judy Blume--4* (This was a re-read...I didn't love it as much this time). The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter--4.5* Now That You Mention It by Kristan Higgins--4.5* We Should All be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie--4*
1* A Family Affair by ReShonda Tate Billingsley- I don't have a positive thing to say about this book. I grabbed it because it was on the library local author shelf. Worst book ever.
2* Mean Steak by Sandra Brown- Didn't hate it...but didn't enjoy it.
3* Into The Water by Paula Hawkins You Will Know Me by Megan Abbott
4* Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate We Were The Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine Killman Creek by Rachel Caine Everything You Want Me To Be by Mindy Mejia
5* Columbine by Dave Cullen We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie When They Call You a Terrorist by Patrisse Kahn Cullors This Is How It Always Is by Laurie Frankel More Than This by Patrick Ness Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste By
15. I think that's the most I've read in a month since I was a kid.
3 stars: Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk by Kathleen Rooney Pachinko by Min Jin Lee Beneath This Mask by Meghan March
3.5 stars: A Lady's Code of Misconduct by Meredith Duran Ten Things I Love About You by Julia Quinn Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney
4 stars: Fearless by Lauren Gilley (the most 'pleasantly surprised by how good this is' book of the month) Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward The Stolen Marriage by Diane Chamberlain From Sand and Ash by Amy Harmon (probably the most 'enjoyed' book of the month)
5 stars: On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century by Timothy Snyder (high rating mainly because I think we all need to read this and see the warning signs)
I read 8 books in January. (I'm counting We Should All Be Feminists as a book . I had to laugh at the irony of how physically cute and small the book was, given its content.)
2.5 stars Admissions - Life as a Brain Surgeon by Henry Marsh (While I have no doubt he's bright as hell, he seems like kind of a jerk and lacks the bedside/bookside(?) manner of Atul Gawande, whose stuff I love for medical reads)
4 stars We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche Love & Other Train Wrecks by Leah Kohen Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward Killers of the Flower Moon - The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI - David Grann
4.5 stars The Hidden Life of Trees: What They Feel, How They Communicate by Peter Wohlleben Beartown by Fredrik Backman Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng 5* The Story of Arthur Truluv by Elizabeth Berg 3* Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann 2.5* We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Adichie 3* Into the Light by Aleatha Romig 4*
I read/listened to 8! Books. That’s a lot for me (only 3 were audio). I look at my list and feel like the ones at the beginning of the month we’re a long time ago!
3* The Scarecrow by Michael Connelly Too Good To Be True by Kristin Higgins Department of Lost and Found by Alison Winn Scotch Heads In Beads by Jacob Tomsky (audio)
4* Who Thought This Was a Good Idea by Alyssa Mastromonaco (audio) The Martian by Andy Weir We Should All be Feminists
5* My Grandmother Told me to Tell You She’s Sorry by Fredrick Bachman (audio is amazing! Though I felt I could have used a hard copy for reference on names/stories here and there)
I had a good month - off to a good start for my reading goal! (goal is 50 books for 2018, I read 10.)
Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel - 5 stars Last child in the Woods by Richard Louv - 3 stars Artemis by Andy Weir - 3 stars the Aviator's Wife by Melanie Benjamin - 4 stars Americanah - 5 stars We Should All Be Feminists - 5 stars (both by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie) A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle - 4 stars the Golden Cage The Shadow Soul (both by Kaitlyn Davis, both 3 stars) unbelievable by Katy Tur - 5 stars
tacokick what is your secret to finding the time for 32 books? Do you read e-books? I think I could read more if I slipped my iPad mini in my purse, but I loooove print books still.
I read 10 this month. The four I rated the highest were Little Fires Everywhere, We Should All Be Feminists, Turtles All the Way Down, and The Secrets of Midwives.

I have always been a super fast reader so that helps. I also don’t have kids and read during short free bits of time like when waiting for meat to brown or whatever lol
I generally read my Kindle at night in bed and regular books (normally library books) during the day because they are heavy to read in bed. I also read the Kindle when I’m outside in my hammock, on a trip or public transportation, at the MVA etc. I get a lot of e-books from the library and Netgalley.
When we went on a 12 day cruise before I had my Kindle, I brought like 20 books. It was so heavy. I left them in the lounge/“library” when I was finished.
I also work from home which I’d say helps but I averaged about 28 books a month when teaching full time and in grad school full time so it doesn’t make that much difference.
A Stranger in the House by Shari Laena - 2* Killman Creek by Rachel Caine - 4* Beneath the Surface by Melynda Price - 3* Walk into Silence by Susan McBride - 2*

1. The Guggenheim Mystery by Robin Stevens, 4**** 2. The League of Frightened Men by Rex Stout, 5***** 3. Banana Coconut Murder by Susan Gillard, 3*** 4. Oreo Sprinkle Murder by Susan Gillard, 3*** 5. Spooky Orange Choc Glazed Murder by Susan Gillard, 3*** 6. Coffee Treacle Murder by Susan Gillard, 3*** 7. Choc Churro Murder by Susan Gillard, 3*** 8. Iced Pumpkin Murder by Susan Gillard, 3***
Most were Kindle Freebie novellas and worth what I paid for them, but they were easy enough to read when I was traveling from Ft. Lauderdale to New Orleans and then back home to Melbourne. The Guggenheim Mystery was good, but not quite as good as Robin Stevens' Murder Most Unladylike series, but still well worth the read. The League of Frightened Men did not disappoint, it was just as good as I thought t would be and a great second outing with Nero Wolfe & Archie Goodwin.
