Sales season is almost half way over so I'm looking ahead at the next chapter of my professional life. Not that I haven't been already, but it's almost time to get serious. I think.
Sales season wraps up 3/15 and is totally done 3/31. My brother and I have it worked out that once business is done and we are just working on closing up the office and selling it, we will split the leftover money 60 me/40 him since I will be helping him during the summer season, but it's not going to be enough for me to take more than 2-4 weeks off I don't think. Summer season will end 7/15 and I could theoretically start working then. I'd like to just take the last part of July off and be ready to start working when DS goes back to school at the beginning of August.
When would be a good time to start actively searching for a job if that's the route I take? Is the feature that lets recruiters know you're looking on Linkedin legit? I've been thinking about turning that on just to see what pops up, if anything, but don't know if doing so 6 months before you're ready is frowned upon?
erinshelley21, Definitely turn it on! I use the back end of LinkedIn Recruiter for work, and it will make you show up in search results for recruiters when you otherwise wouldn't. You may get a bit bombarded, fair warning. But, if you find a good recruiter they could help you line something up for the start date you're envisioning. And I don't think it's bad to start passively looking now. It'll give you a feel for what is out there and help you practice your resume and interview skills.

2chatter, I really hope I am. My mom, brother, and husband seem to think I am. Of course I don't, but that's just me being my own worst enemy. I will need all the stumpers though when the time comes!
