Stressing about a summer camp...since we are moving to new county and he will begin a new school for 1st grade in the the fall. I also prefer a camp with theme weeks instead of switching every week.
The weekend was so quiet. I relaxed. It was nice. I can’t remember the last time I just took it easy. I’ve been feeling very run down so it was good to catch up a bit.
Thanks mae0111! I’ve never been so nervous watching a game. It was crazy. And even over here in the Jersey ‘burbs there were fireworks and screaming and cars honking until like 1am. I wonder if we can take DD to the parade!

It was an exciting game and I don’t even regularly watch football anymore.
My girls and I had a really nice visit with my parents. My dad is so excited about his upcoming retirement. We are going to start hiking together once a month or so. It’s nice to see him so excited — after 40+ years he has earned it.
My kids get to stay at their current elementary school for first grade! We got the approval letter on Friday and it takes such a huge weight off! We'll have to submit a request each year, since it's not our neighborhood school, but I'll take it!
shakinros - woohoo!! Go Eagles! You'll have to let us know if you end up taking your DD to the parade.
Celebration: DS and his team won their basketball game on Saturday, 14-12. They are 2nd graders playing in a 3rd/4th grade league, so it was pretty cool to see them win.
In all it was a pretty good weekend. I did some cleaning, took DD to open gym for gymnastics, went grocery shopping, and got some R & R time.

I was finally able to get a second coat of paint on DS’s room and painted the trim as well. Next are the closet doors but that may have to wait until it’s warmer out.
The Super Bowl was really good and I’m glad it wasn’t a blow out.
Busy weekend m started at 10 Saturday with dance practice for me. We have to entertain ourselves out here so my friends have a music awards every year with skits and acts, somehow I ended up in Footloose. Baby shower, dinner with kids, and a spades tournament made up the day.
Went to a Super Bowl party, but we're home in time for half.
Vent. Ds has a sore throat. No fever. He is making the most of it with very dramatic coughing, sighing, and clearing of the throat. I sent him to school with a bag of cough drops and 2 Advil.
Somehow we managed to not have any plans this weekend! Some of my friends were in a crossfit competition this weekend, so I took the baby with me on Saturday while DH and DD1 had swim class. I got to take a nap Saturday afternoon while the kids napped (mostly because I had a splitting headache, but it was still a nap!).
Sunday we traded kids and DH played with the babe in the morning, and I took the big girl to the gym with me, then back to the competition. The afternoon was food prep and and lounging on the couches with the girls.
SFIL is out of the hospital and home!!! He is weak and tired and on oxygen, but he is home. They let DS come over and SFIL was content to just sit and watch my son play with cars and listen to him speak. We were there for about 10 min, and then we left, but I am so happy he is home.

I listened to my STBXH argue with someone who was driving by our house and threatening him b/c she was mad that he was seeing someone else. And all he did was aggravate the situation by calling her names, baiting her, and belittling her. Wtf?! I'm worried about this and feel like I can't even address it b/c as the STBX, I'm instantly assumed to just be jealous and have no other legitimate concerns or feelings. Divorcing an asshole fucking sucks.

This weekend was pretty laid back and it was lovely! The kids were awesome Saturday while I solo parented and took them to a breakfast meeting with me. Our BFF's were there so the husband helped me a bit, not that DS really gave him much of a choice lol.
Yesterday I didn't spend all evening prepping for the week so that was also nice. I was able to get to bed earlier than usual and up this morning to go to crossfit. I actually enjoyed getting it knocked out first thing so hopefully I can keep it up!
DD’s team lost to a fifth grade team at soccer!! It’s their first regular season loss in a few years. It was good for them to experience that and I have been patiently waiting.
I am however annoyed as they would have won the league but the league switched their schedule to play an older, competitive team as their last game. If that came from a good place - competition is good - awesome, but if it came from a they can’t win again place (which I suspect it did with this league) that’s sad.
Home with sick kids. Well DD could have gone to school but the city roads are shit so I didn't want to waste hours in traffic driving her. DS spiked a 104 fever overnight so I didn't get much sleep.
Weekend was very quiet. Getting cabin fever though, this winter needs to end so we can get back to playing outside.
Well I've had 6 txt from ds. Apparently his math teacher told him he might have strep. I called Dh to be prepared to get him and deal with it. He's off today, but Ds won't txt him. He's mad because he doesn't want to go to take him to the doc with the flu going around. Nobody does buddy, but he is the kid is going if he leaves school.
PMSing this weekend so not much was a highlight except the game.
DH convinced me to sign up for an exercise class. I've done almost everything up there, so I signed up for a water exercise class. Then I had to buy a long sleeve rash guard because they have a cold pool. Sunday I had to work.
Today I am off but already broke my second pair of sunglasses in 6 months. I was very gentle with them so it's not my fault. I guess they are all really cheaply made lately. I am mad about it. Hopefully DH can get a refund on them, and I told him to not buy me those again. I didn't want him to buy them for me in the first place, but he did it as a Christmas present so I had to act grateful. And they would have been fine if they didn't break.
waverly - my two pair of one dollar sunglasses from the grocery store have outlasted anything more expensive. It’s crazy. Second runner up goes to Target $8 pair.
One of my cousins was found dead in her house late last week by one of her grown daughters. It appears to be natural causes, though at first the thought was suicide. She had recently checked herself into a facility for severe depression, hence the thought it could be suicide. I’m more shaken up by it than expected. She’s only a few years older than I am. So I had to cancel a work trip today because there was no way to get from Chicago late this afternoon to Oklahoma in time for the funeral. Another cousin and I are driving to Oklahoma together tomorrow and driving back the same day. The cousin I’m driving with is more like my sister than a cousin. She lived with us for much of my childhood and adolescence. So it’ll be good to spend that time together.
With all of that in the background, it really was a great weekend. Very relaxed. The kids were awesome. We went to the park Saturday, then they let me take an hour-long nap. Sunday, DD and I got pedicures. That’s so much fun! But DD wanted matching toes, so now I have neon orange toenail polish. DS, ever the charmer, exclaimed “What happened to your feet???” when he saw them. Lol.
Our house is ready to go. I have some last minute cleaning/arranging today and photos at 2.
We're for sure putting an offer in on the house we looked at. We just have to determine how high we're willing to go. I was thinking about it on my run today. I think the listing agent is trying to play off the market here in general and acting like this house will go $150k over asking when they're already listed pretty high for the area and the house needs work. They're just a couple miles from our current house and not in one of "the" neighborhoods to go to. Our house is fully remodeled and has minimal work that needs to be done on it (~$500 roof repairs, perhaps some termite stuff that would be under warranty from our last fumigation).. we're listing on the high end for our neighborhood and don't expect much more than list. This one needs everything remodeled, needs a new roof, various repairs throughout the house, etc. The realtor yesterday said he knew they were getting two offers on the home. Two offers by Sunday is not a bidding war like other areas are seeing.
In other news, I should find out whether one of my clients is headed towards bankruptcy within a few hours. So that's fun.
I have a weird vent. I was recently featured in an article about my career and giving advice to college students. I shared it on my Facebook. The only comments it has received were from people who posted along the lines of "That photo of you is beautiful!" and "You look so good!"
THIS IS WHAT'S WRONG WITH OUR CULTURE!
I can be a career woman, highlighted for her career, and all I get are compliments on my damn headshot. WTF people.
This is why I stress about raising girls to be strong women.
k3am - good luck! Is letter writing a thing there? A friend chose a lesser offer with a personal letter that explained that the buyer had grown up in the area and wanted to send their kids to the same schools they attended, and that they had been in the home for a party in junior high. We are now friendly with the letter writers.
Also, any chance your realtor has discussed bringing a home to market for you? The friends who sold that house bought a house across the neighborhood that wasn’t for sale. The realtor reached out with offers and this couple was considering downsizing and went for it. No bidding war, fair market price, everyone was happy.
Weekend was good. Gymnastic meet was awesome and the PINK meet is always extra fun. The alumni pep band comes and to play and it was 3 times the size as normal so they really rocked it. I took a video of DD rocking out to the band. Sunday the weather was really nice and we spent a lot of time outside. I fertilized the yard while DH and DD turn over the garden, we also put up the garden fence to keep the dog out. I'm really feeling the labor today.
Vent: I left my 303 vitamin/homeopathic pills at home today! Chiro recommended them to help with muscle relaxing and it really has been helping meaning my neck is stabilizing and my head isn't pounding. I'm so pissed but realized it half way to work and didn't have time to go back home. I already feel my neck seizing up. Boo
2chatter, I don't know if letter writing is much of a thing here. The realtor yesterday basically said that the sellers are a family who would love to see the house go to another family, assuming that the other family had the best offer. (I mean.. it's pretty much going to a family. I know very few DINKs or empty nesters with much interest in a 5 bedroom/2600 sq foot home... this house size is obscene for the area) I don't know if that was the realtor speaking or the owners speaking. (TBH, in selling our house, a letter would only sway me if we were deciding between two offers that were virtually the same.)
I've never heard of the bringing a home to market idea. Our agent definitely didn't suggest it.
