I'm going to be dory for a costume party this month. I'm wearing a blue dress, black leggings and yellow sleeves. A wee bit half-assed. So I'm counting on my makeup to really make it.
I'm thinking the eyes will be as close as my weak skills can get on this tutorial: youtu.be/PLhgthNDpSE
combined with some of that fishscale effect you do with fishnet stockings around my cheekbones and forehead. So like thisish, but with blue and yellow instead of blue and purple.
Sounds like a cute costume. I'd maybe just do the fish scales just around the temple area. All over the forehead might be too much. The eyeshadow looks really cool.
I did something similar for a dragon costume for Halloween and I would say to err on the side of more scales rather than less, otherwise it looks weird. Like if there are just a few around the edges of your face it kind of takes a second to figure out what's going on. If that makes sense.
I test drove this last night and it came out ok! A little muddy since I don't have any clue how to do a cut crease, but reasonable effect. H said I looked like a dinosaur rather than a fish....
I'd post a picture, except I refuse to download it on this phone.
Cut crease - lay down the crease color. "Cut" out the shape you want with concealer, then put down the lid color. No blending.
Ahhh..that makes more sense. I missed that step. The party was yesterday and I decided that rather than messy cut crease I'd just do a simpler lid +transition shade.
I was really happy with how it looked, but I feel like it didn't photograph great. If i think of it when I get on a computer I'll post a picture though
thanks all! It was really fun. My friend who was in the picture with me (hence the delete) as snow white NEVER wears blush, and we got ready together. she's putting blush on and was like, "man, this is weird, caking on a ton of blush like this" and meanwhile I'm sitting there with a fishnet stocking over my head contouring with blue eyeshadow...I was like, "dude. perspective."
