The doctors initially thought she had pneumonia, but when it was not responding to treatment they decided to investigate things further. She was in the beginning stages of heart failure. We are all pretty floored by this.
My IL's are in Florida right now, but the doctors do not want to wait to have her ambulanced here for the procedure. They are going to perform it today, in about an hour. Of course H and I wanted to rush over there right away, but FIL is insisting we stay for the time being so that we can take care of some things for him/them here before we go. My SIL is there now, and H and I will be going there as soon as we can, likely to help as much as we are able to with post-op care and support.
Anyway, if you could send her, my H, and the family some positive thoughts, prayers, good juju, whatever, it would be so appreciated.
Love you guys. xo
Update: The surgery was a success. She is resting, but doing well. Thank you for the well wishes, and a very special thank you to doglove for also checking in with me/us off the boards to see how we were doing. It really meant a lot. <3
How is she doing after the weekend margarita ? Hope her recovery is steadily improving.
Thanks so much for asking. She is in a lot of pain, and the doctors are seeing her blood pressure and heart rhythm go up and down quite a bit, which is frustrating, but it's not completely unexpected. Sometimes it's one step forward, two steps back for a while with healing, especially after such a major surgery.
We are staying positive, and are just happy that the surgery went well and that she is getting great care where she is. Hopefully things stabilize a bit more for her asap so she can get the rest she needs.
