When buying shampoo, do you get what you pay for? Do you think there’s a difference in salon vs Walmart shampoo? I’ve seen all the hype around the Monat shampoo, and just wondering if a good quality shampoo can make that much of a difference.
I don’t notice much of a difference. There are a few high end brands where I love the way they smell. Right now I’m using and love the smell of living proof, but I’m not noticing and remarkable change to my hair. I don’t use any heat on my hair ever - no hair dryer or curlers etc so I think that keeps my hair healthy more than anything. I shampoo every three days and occasionally use Moroccan oil when damp. I do color my grays and swim a lot so the Moroccan oil helps keep my hair moisturized.

I’ve changed over the years and now use cheap shampoo (usually Suave Naturals) and it’s fine. I have pretty easygoing hair. Monat is an MLM product so its price is artificially inflated to pay a cut to multiple people on a pyramid, excuse me, down line. I’d never look to an MLM for well priced products. You’d be better off at splurging at a salon or beauty supply.
Yes, to a point. Salon dhampoos are wayyy better. But a stote brand of a salon shampoo is just as good. I.e. Walmart's Equate version of Biolage IS fantastic at half the price and far superior to say Herbal Essence or Pantene for example. It is still $7 a bottle but biolage is over $18 so...
I gave Living Proof a shot and thought I would love it. I don't notice a difference over my Kirland shampoo, other than the fact that I paid like... $60 for two teeny tiny bottles vs. $15 for two Costco sized bottles. I won't be going back. I do actually like their PHD styling product better than what I'd been using before.
I use Living Proof because I like the smell and it’s silicone free. I noticed a huge difference but I only use conditioner, not shampoo, and I have curly hair.
