I have been adding a heart to each child’s door each day with a “you are” statement. Wednesday will be “you are sweet” with kisses and hugs glued on.
We are ordering poke bowls - we always did heart shaped pizza so I have been floundering and came upon an order in treat. The kids have spent at least an hour reading the menu on Uber eats and debating the merits of crab versus yellowtail.
DH and I are double dating with my college roommate to a wine bar this weekend. Cannot wait.
DH apparently is shopping for me. So he’s getting the Williams Sonoma pans I ordered for his March birthday. Or I may be super cheap and give him one for Valentines with steaks and one for his birthday with lamb.
Kids get candy, books, Disney shirts and DS - Red lego box, DD slow squishee and DD extra sixlets because she can have them.
I got some roses and a card yesterday because Dh is on 12 hour shifts this week. I got him a hat and card. The kids will get some candy and DS a shirt he's been wanting and Dd a necklace.
I don’t do anything for the kids except help them make cards for their classmates. I usually don’t get anything for DH but I did find a funny mug on Etsy that I will stuff with Swedish fish.

We just did a weekend away with 3 other couples and had to get a suite since that was the only room available plus a nice dinner out on Friday. Last weekend took care of the next 3 Valentine's days lol.
The kids each got various goodies. DS is getting a nerf gun, a grossery gang thing, and a pair of socks. DD is getting pajamas, a toy and a shirt I think.

We make heart-shaped homemade pizzas for dinner, and I got each kid a heart-shaped box of candy from the dollar store. DH gets a card, also from the dollar store.
I'll buy them each a tiny box of chocolates - the ones with only 2 or 3 in it. I put it out on the counter so it's there to surprise them at breakfast. DH and I don't really do anything. He's one of those "It's a dumb holiday" people. Everyone once in a while we'll grab each other some candy or he'll get me a flower or something.
Dh is purchasing flowers and a heart shaped pizza from our local pizza place. I got the kids Totsie roll banks. I got DH a popcorn bucket that also has candy in it for a movie night. DS thought that we needed a heart shaped box of chocolate to all eat, so we picked up one at Target a week or so ago. Not a huge holiday here, but just a little something.
Yeah, I was happy with ordering in with the kids. DH is rarely here on Valentines and of course isn’t this year - I do wonder if he were here if it would be less of a thing.

2chatter, I love the heart idea! I'm going to borrow it.
I might do heart pizzas on Wednesday for dinner. I haven't thought of anything to get the kids. I feel like they get enough candy elsewhere, so I guess I don't know...
DH and I are hoping to go out for dinner on Saturday, if we can find a babysitter.
covergirl82 - the kids LOVE it and check their doors often to see if I have added a heart. They read each other’s and agree and give compliments during the course of conversation. It’s awesome.
Aaaaaahhhh! I am glad for this forum as I always order my mom flowers (my Dad is dead and he always got her flowers). I just ordered them. Almost really screwed that up.
DH and I get each other a card. We don't usually get the kids anything. We got valentines for their classmates and they'll have parties at school. We also got bags of candy for their teachers and they're so excited to hand them out.
Nothing...its a 12 hour day for me. DH is supposed to be putting in a frozen lasagna for dinner. Last year he went all out crazy which he had never done before so no idea what he is planning this time.
With school not doing anything I've just kind of given up on the whole thing. I did make DD a couple different Valentine's hair bows. I'm also picking up some simple flowers at Costco tonight on my way home for DD to give to her teacher.

I was thinking to buy some flowers for DS on my way out of work tonight. So he has a couple nights to enjoy them before going to his dad’s.
Tomorrow will be insane at work. We are aiming for $15k in sales which would be a record for our little store. I’ll be helping a lot of clueless guys pick out flowers for their sweethearts.
Also I might get a couple pieces of jewelry out of my safety deposit box today. So I can wear them ironically tomorrow. In a “look how much someone used to love me” kind of way. I never get to wear this stuff anymore. Why not?
I gave DH and the kids cards and little tins of candy on Sunday. Dh is traveling this week. Since our trip is cancelled maybe I will text the babysitter to see if she wants to sit for us Sunday night....
We don't usually do much. I got the girls cute long-sleeved t-shirts with hearts on them. I'll package them with some good chocolates. DH is getting a card and good chocolate. Valentine's day is on our busiest weeknight - DD1 has 2 dance classes, DD2 has 1 dance class and their classes do not overlap. We're going to go have pizza at a the place next to the dance studio. We will order the pizza and then DD1 can walk down after her first class and we'll all eat together during the 30 minutes that one of the girls is not dancing.
Our anniversary is in 2 weeks so we'll wait to do a big date night until then.
DH buys me and DD flowers, he got a little stuffed animal for DS and chocolates for the kids. I got everyone a few little chocolates. That's really all we do.
Nothing planned here. I have to teach tomorrow evening, so I won't even be home. And if one of my grad students complains about having class on Valentine's Day, I'm going to give them an F.
H and I stopped and bought our own favorite V-day candy yesterday - we took a vacation day and it was supposed to be our date day but I had stomach flu on Saturday and wasn't feeling it. Oh well.
DS is getting a tiny box of sweet tart hearts and one of those solar dancing Snoopy Valentines toys from CVS from me and a magic ink pad of How to Train your Dragon from H.
And he takes cards to school - I thought I was so smart getting the TMNT masks, turns out you have to thread the damn elastics yourself, or somehow tape them to the cards and hope they don't get lost. Sigh.
sudokufan - aaaerrgghhh yes on the work that are valentines! It’s why every other year we have made them. But with the advent of Pinterest, it’s no longer enough to decorate doilies and hearts so this year I bought buttons from dollar tree. Low effort. Yay.
2chatter, some of the pinterest ones would probably be less annoying to do! Next year I might just print stickers that say "I think you're awesomesauce" and stick them on his favorite applesauce pouches. At least that'd be useful. And like 6 times more expensive.
