Anyone watching the Olympics? What are your favorite events?
I love all things ice skating and am currently watching ice dancing. I must admit I have no idea what they are talking about....twizzles and deep skating/edges but I am still enjoying it.
I like the skiing races and short track speed skating. I enjoyed the snowboarding events but the ski slopestyle was a little weird to me.
Was the ski slope style where they were going backwards and doing tricks? I thought that was weird but cool!
I love ice skating and hockey. We have a former and current player from our college hockey team playing for the men this year so that's been cool! The snowboarding has been fun to watch too.
I get super nervous watching the skeleton or luge. Bobsled too but they're a little more protected there. Some of the events are boring but I'm still kinda fascinated by how they require not only physical skill, but mental too. Like curling or ski jumping and needing to stay at the exact right angle!

estrellita yes slopestyle is wherr they were going backwards. It was just not as cool as thr snowboarding. Apparently they have a skiing halfpipe now. I saw that last night.
Unexpectedly, we’ve been watching a lot of curling and really enjoying it. It’s like shuffle board on ice, and we keep having to google all of the curling terms to figure out what’s going on. lol.
Also, figure skating. Holy moly, that is intense.
estrellita - We watched the ski slope style, too! I’m absolutely fascinated by what they’re able to do on skis, because I’m a snowboarder and I hated skiing the one time I tried it. The amount of control they have is incredible!

Oh yeah, I like the snowboarding too I didn't really like the big air as much though. Just the one jump was kinda boring to me. I prefer the events with more jumps/tricks. I've only snowboarded once but I liked it and wished I had gone more!
The curling was interesting but I still don't fully understand the rules. I'm not quite interested enough to look them up though, lol. I have a few friends that do curling I could ask!

E has been kinda obsessed with watching, lol. He liked the figure skating and watching them spin and jump, and watching the skiers and snowboarders "fly". He said he wants to fly on the board too, lol. I'd be ok with him getting into skiing or snowboarding, at least we live in a good place for that! But we'll definitely wait until he's older
Okay, which do you think would be scarier to do: luge or skeleton?
H and I disagree. I think skeleton is way more terrifying, but he thinks luge is. If I had to choose, I feel like I would much rather throw myself down a hill feet first versus head first. 😂

katespade definitely skeleton! If you hit the wall too fast, you could easily be paralyzed or worse.. luge you'd probably just break a leg. Plus I feel like laying on your stomach would be more uncomfortable!
We've been watching a ton, way more than we usually do for winter Olympics (I'm more of a summer Olympics girl). Figure skating is my fave but I've been watching all kinds of stuff....hockey, snowboarding, curling, luge, bobsled, etc. I really haven't gotten much into the skiing, but maybe part of that is because it always seems to be preliminary rounds when there are tons of people and it is just kind of boring. Medal races are better!
melsamoony - I missed all of the ice dancing last night! I got distracted by a movie and didn't notice how late it was until it was already over. I did end up watching some women's hockey, though. I've never watched hockey before so I had no idea what was going on, but I do know that the USA team won. lol.

I missed it too, we put E to bed then caught up on Scandal. I started watching a show on Netflix yesterday because I was bored of curling all day, lol.
estrellita what netflix shows are you liking? I am almost done with ny crazy ex girlfriend and will need a new show to binge.
So far on ML I've watched Shameless and The Magicians (H watches this and I've half watched but wanted to get caught up because one of my favorite actresses was on the last episode) and we started watching Supernatural together. I just started Parenthood and so far I like it!

I'm watching the men's hockey game and a former player from my college scored a goal! He was one of my favorites to watch so it's pretty cool to watch him in the Olympics!
estrellita - We recently started Shameless, too. We're only three or four episodes in, though. Is The Magicians worth watching? I read the book way back when, but I don't think I ever got all the way to the end of it. lol.

I think you would like it! There's a lot of sarcastic humor which I love, lol. Only thing I don't like is that sometimes it moves a little fast or they seem to skip over things because I'll get distracted and suddenly not know what's going on. But it's not too bad, I would just need to rewind occasionally to see what I missed. I'm easily distracted already so it's been a little hard to fully pay attention right now!
