I know a few have been to Disney on ice recently. Share your secrets. I’ve got cheap seats and plan on taking my 3 girls (newly 2, 4, and 6 yo). I’m hoping to pick up glow sticks at the dollar store, but what else do I need to know? What snacks are big enough to share and worth buying? (Can I bring in snacks?)
We went at the Target Center a few years ago. Just let them be kids. M was dancing in front of her seat the whole time. I have no idea if you can bring in snacks, I imagine that depends on the venue, I never checked because grandma was buying and I'm not picky about food for fun things like that. Helps that we don't have any allergies.
Not an 'On Ice Show' per se but I always bring cash to venues because the Kiosks don't always have a credit card machine. Here in CT the Kiosks often have the Popcorn, cotton candy and ice creams. I tell boys ahead of time that they will get 1 treat. I will usually do a popcorn, 1 drink each and either an ice cream/snow cone or cotton candy, etc. I eat dinner or lunch beforehand. We can't bring anything in so I just be prepared to spend money on snacks and drinks. Have fun
We just went! My kids, especially the 3 and 5 year olds, LOVED IT!! My three year old keeps asking when we can go again! It was really magical for her.
Summary: maybe let them choose one toy each?, don't buy food, wear princess dresses.
Long version:
Souvenirs: I heard all this stuff about "you have to bring in a bunch of Disney stuff b/c your kids will be begging for souvenirs!" We didn't have time to do that b/c everyone was sick, but it was totally unnecessary, I thought. I didn't see any need to bring light-up wands from home. I mean, they STILL are going to want the special stuff that's there. I told them in advance we would NOT be buying stuff there and just whisked past the (MANY!!) souvenir stands quickly. That said, I would rather have bought a wand or something than the snow cone cups we ended up buying. So just know in advance what you want your policy to be and warn the kids in advance. I think wands were maybe like $20?? I mean, I kind of wanted one myself!!!!
Wearing princess dresses is really cute and many kids did that. My two little girls wore their Elsa & Rapunzel dresses. I was just loving the absolute adorable-ness.
FOOD: Our venue did not allow carry-ins. You have to check the rules of your venue. If I were to go again, I would ABSOLUTELY not buy snacks. DH went to buy popcorn at intermission and also came back with two, $14-each snowcones in special cups. While the kids were happy about snowcones, my son was with DH and actually missed part of the show b/c it took so long to get the food. I was so mad, b/c he missed the Sleeping Beauty dragon, which I think he would have LOVED. Then, it was really distracting to try to deal with the snacks while the show was going on. The show goes really fast. Next time, I would totally skip snacks at intermission and just do a bathroom break (took us a long time to just get through the line and back to seats). I would have a treat in the car for afterwards and tell them they'd have something special on the way home. That would also help with waiting in line to get out of parking, if that's an issue for you. Took us a while to get out of the ramp.

Thanks everyone! I’m going to get some glow sticks for my purse and pass them out when we get there. They are wearing their dresses for sure. We are meeting dh for lunch after. No car to deal with, we are taking the train and I’m planning on an exhausted toddler afterwards. We’ve never done something like this before. The biggest is the only one who’s ever been to a movie even and she’s only been to one so treat expectations don’t exist yet. I’m think by maybe a cotton candy to share? I’ll have to think about it. Dnw to stand in a long line with three kids and miss part of the show!
