I want to know more about the training and advocacy that the father was talking about, and I wonder if my local law enforcement has something similar.
Our department has some training. When we were still doing DARE locally, the officers assigned to each school for the program had some training in special needs and they followed the kids they'd had in 6th through middle and high school.
This is the go-to guy for ASD training for first responders. There's a lot of information on his website.

It talks about different actual school shootings and lack of preparedness for individuals with disabilities that might not be able to run, hide, fight.
