I emailed the president of the liquor store and he told me that it's an Indiana law that mandates that you cannot bring babies into the liquor store. I decided that I thought that it was a stupid enough law that I should email my state legislator and complain. So I did. I wonder if she'll get back to me.
I totally should. I'll have Overture write it for me. She is more of a wordsmith than me. (I'm sure you were being sarcastic, but I think it's hilarious.)
Nerd Alert. I write laws for a living so I was curious to see this law. Here it is. There is no currently proposed bill to change it either.

I just posted on my BMB for help wording the petition. But *ahem*, I would think that someone who writes laws for a living would be the perfect person to word my petition!
I am writing to urge your support for Senate Bill 0020 or similar legislation which would allow parents to bring their minor children into package liquor stores. Currently the Indiana Code prevents the prescence of minors at places where alcohol is sold. The law also contains 22 exceptions for places where minors are allowed, including grocery stores, civic centers, indoor golf facilities and automobile race tracks.
Senate Bill 0020 would, in part, change the law to allow the prescence of minors provided they are accompanied by their parents or guardians who are above the age of 21. This change is neccessary to prevent children being left unattended in vehicles or at home while their parents are shopping.
