oh my ladies...what a crazy time the past few weeks have been. thankfully, things seem to be settling down and getting back to normal, for that i'm super thankful.
G is now 8 months now (nearly 7 months adjusted) and he is looking more and more like a little man!! We did our 8 month photos at home over the weekend and I loved how they turned out...plus we got our finalization photos back from the trip to Louisiana!!!! They turned out so well, I'm so excited! Now I need to find a nice collage to get them printed into and hung up at home.
omg oneslybookworm those photos are perfection. I love love love the one of the three of you sitting on those stairs. I can't tell who looks happier, you two or the baby! LOVE
Thanks so much!! I was so worried about G because the hearing started later than anticipated (by about an hour and a half) and so he was SOOO ready for a nap when it came time to pictures. Thankfully, no meltdown and he handled it like a champ, but the laughs and smiles were harder to get out of him.
icedcoffee - Congrats on the new job! Mushe - That story is so sweet, I am so happy for you! kellikans - so many hugs, I am so sorry this pregnancy has been so stressful. I have everything crossed he has a short NICU stay. I love that little outfit oneslybookworm - the photos turned out so well, G is adorable!
I have another OB appointment Monday along with an ultrasound. First time seeing baby since anatomy scan. OB assured me its just a growth ultrasound and there is nothing to be concerned about but I am a bit anxious about it.
I had our new born photos booked for ages, but I only had a mini session booked in studio with photos of just baby since we were doing an at home session and photos down at the beach in the summer with our wedding photographer. But then I saw all these newborn pictures of baby being held in the dad's hands and I wanted one too so I upgraded the package lol. I am probably spending too much on photos but I don't care.
oneslybookworm, I die. That photo of you guys on the stairs! SWOON. And your hair looks great--I love the color!
pandora89, with our histories of trying to start a family, I fully support any and all photos, lol. We were really fortunate that we have two incredibly talented photographer friends who took our photos for free. I am looking forward to doing some one year pictures as well

oneslybookworm, those are adorable! Also, I have basically the same exact socks that G is wearing, which is making me do a double-take every time I see a picture with him in them!
E had her 1 year checkup yesterday. She has decided she hates appointments so she cried the whole time. She only got her RSV shot, because it's huge - I think 1.5mL - and I didn't want to force more on her. So we go back in two weeks for 2 more vaccines, then finish up 1 year shots 2 weeks after that. She's 20lbs 11oz! But only 28 inches. I wonder if they measured right because I think she was 28 inches a month ago too.
Just got done with B's 15 month checkup this morning. He's still holding steady at the 99+% for height (33.5 in). H will be so happy to hear that!
He really doesn't have many/any discernible words that he uses consistently and in context yet but the doctor thinks that his ear infections put him a bit behind the eight ball in terms of speech development, so hopefully we'll see some progress with vocalizing over the next few months before his 18 month appointment. He definitely UNDERSTANDS a lot, so I'm not too concerned about his language skills in general. He goes to his room when I say it's time to get changed, he picks out a book when I ask him if he wants to read a story, he sits when I tell him to, finds his shoes when I ask him to, uses his fork (or tries to, lol) when I remind him to, etc. Yesterday was adorable - he and my mom were reading a book with a mouse and my mom started singing Three Blind Mice. He put up his hand to stop her and ran over to his toy shelf and brought back a little wind-up toy radio that plays Three Blind Mice, so she could sing along to it, lol.

I think the height measurements of babies taken when they're laying down tend to be inaccurate. Ours says H didn't grow at all between her 1.5-yr and 2-yr appointments, which I seriously doubt.

The first time they measured her they said she was 30 inches, so the doctor had another nurse come in and measure again, and she got 28 inches. So who knows!

I agree. I seem to recall A's measurements seemed off when taken that way from 12 months on. Plus, her growth did slow down after about a year, or she'd grow unevenly - I swear one month I was like "why do you have gorilla arms?" I wouldn't worry about it, thoseareradishes.
janegold, I think I posted it here, but we had a similar experience at C's 15 month appointment. In the month since he now has 3 consistent words (ball, this, and baba), and is definitely attempting to echo us more. Its all coincided with his move up to the toddler room, so I'm not sure how much of it is developmental vs. environmental. In any case, I wouldn't be concerned either. I was confident in C's comprehension and that seems more important to me.

So cute about the radio toy. How clever!
I do remember you posting about that; that is encouraging, thanks!
janegold--so tall! S is 30.5" at 7 months...considering he was 19" when he was born I cannot believe how tall he is now. And fat, lol. Just under 20 pounds.

Wow, he IS a big guy! Not fat, though - he's so long, of course he's going to weigh more, too!

pandora89, I think us TTTC’ers get a pass for spending big bucks on newborn photos. (At least that’s what I told myself when we spent more than I care to admit last year!)
I finally heard back from our photographer. She seems really nice. Is willing to come to our house even though we're out of her travel radius. I'm debating on whether or not to upgrade our package to include pics with us. But I hate pictures of myself. And I'd really love to have pictures of the baby with the dogs, but I don't know how well that will go over. It's $100 more and includes 10 more prints, so maybe it's worth it.
We installed the car seat tonight. Getting it inspected tomorrow.

worth it!!! I’m not a fan of seeing myself in pics too, but ‘mom stays in the picture’ is important to me.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.

Yes! You will want pictures of yourself with your tiny baby!

I had the same thought process yesterday too and my friend and mom both said I’d end up regretting not having a picture of myself with the baby when he’s that little. I’d do the upgrade (I did!)
Yes, DEFINITELY get newborn pictures of you with the baby! When we got our newborn photos I was in the darkest days of PPA and barely sleeping. I almost bowed out of being in the photos and I'm so glad I didn't. I cherish them now.
Our newborn session was a not-so-newborn session, since A was about 8 weeks old. I don't regret not getting the photos done right away, but I kind of regret not having any photos of myself in the hospital with her. There are photos of her, and in one shot you can see my mother's arm. Lol, that's it.

I feel this way too about the hospital. We have one of them on me in the operating room and a few the day we got discharged, but none of me holding both in the hospital bed in my gown etc. between the c section and a short nicu stay and twins I think it just got lost in the shuffle.

Wow!!! S just hit 30” at 13m and I was sad bc that meant she was too tall for her infant car seat. I was totally infant bucket seat for life camp, so easy to tote around when she’s sleeping!!!

Do it. You won’t regret it. Recommend wearing a dark color shirt to camouflage post partum belly.

He is so tall. His feet dangle over the edge a bit already and lord is he heavy. But it is still just easier so I am keeping him in it until I can't lol.

What car seat do you have? We have the chicco key fit 30, and the 30 stands for 30”, so once they are that tall you have to move them to convertible seat. I know most other brands have similar height requirements. I’m just sharing bc I thought the 30 meant pounds not inches lol 😂🤦🏼♀️

Apparently the 30 is for both 30 lbs and 30" whatever you hit first. They came out with a new Chicco Fit2 that lasts until 35" and I totally was going to buy it but the fit is terrible in the headroom (I brought S to BBB to try it our and she had no headroom).
