Anybody have any suggestions for great toys (or other items) to offer up to friends and relatives looking for 1st bday gift ideas for my son? We have soooo many toys, but people are going to want to buy him something anyway. Thanks!
Experience gifts: annual pass to the zoo, children’s museum or swimming lessons or music lessons.
For a smaller budget: one trip to the zoo or botanical garden or similar. Tickets to an outing - here we have a big rig day in town where kids get to sit in diggers, fire trucks, etc.

Since turning 1 my DD has gotten way more in to books so I’m glad we have a ton of those since I get tired of reading the same ones over and over again.
The Melissa and Doug water wow books are great. She likes sidewalk chalk. A little ride on toy. The best gift she got was a push car for outside, but that’s more expensive. Oh she also has a little car ramp she loves - she puts the car on top and pushes a lever and it goes down the ramp.

Highlights makes a “magazine” for babies. I think it’s called “Hello”. My sons love/d it and it’s a nice in between of not being just more stuff but not being an experience gift. ( though I’m TOTALLY for experience gifts if they will go for it - zoo, swim lessons, Gymboree/My Gym ....)
Books are always a good thing to suggest to others. A friend of ours always requests people pass along an old favorite — books, toys, clothes that can be passed along, items picked up in thrift stores, or a book/small toy that was a favorite from their childhood.
Thanks so much, everyone! Because I have an older daughter, we have a lot of the (great) stuff you guys suggested.I was able to put a few new ideas on his wishlist. I'll try to push experience gifts, but some people just HAVE to give them "stuff". I guess it's probably just a losing battle until they go to college, haha.
