I woke up in the middle of the night to a loud hail storm. I almost never wake up from the weather but it was LOUD.
Busy week ahead.
M - glow in the dark music class with MIL T - visiting BFF and her kids OOT W - spending time with my mom and grandma Th - library story time F - MIL babysitting - pedicure with BFF, kid free errands
Also need to get groceries ASAP. We might do that this afternoon.
I woke up MOTN hearing someone walking in our hallway upstairs. I woke DH up too (he was not thrilled). It must have been a dream because no one was in our house except the four of us who were all in bed. Not a good night of sleep.
We were supposed to go to Disneyland today with my parents but C is sick and L might be catching it. I doubt we can make it tomorrow or Thursday but will try if everyone is healthy and it’s not raining.
Today: run and groceries Tuesday: run Wednesday: preschool, run, and a really good friend is visiting in the afternoon on her way to a photography event she is working Friday: run and preschool Saturday: DH has a golf tournament for work/charity. Planning to run with my dad and then take the boys to a birthday party for a kid in C’s class.
Normal chores. Also want to clean out our refrigerator and make this picture decor that I have been planning for over a month (Woods letters that spell “love” that you paint and glue pictures to and then hang on a wall or place on a shelf).
Today is H's birthday! I'll have to get to the post office to grab his present. I might also go to the grocery store and get something for dinner and/or cake or something.
Thu we head to my parents house and Fri we leave for a mini road trip to Wisconsin Dells! My parents house is a bit closer plus we're going to stop at my mom's work to show off the kids to her coworkers that know everything about them
Our anniversary is Fri. 5 years! I'm hoping to do a nicer dinner but obviously nothing fancy since we have the kids with us. I'm super excited to get away for a few days, especially since I go back to work soon

Nothing special this week.
My only plan today is to get my car washed.
I work my normal schedule.
Friday is my normal errands day. H should hear about the job he interviewed for on Friday. FX he gets it!
This weekend we are starting to purge the house even if he doesn’t get the job. Eventually we are going to relocate so we need to start the great purge.
I need to do some work today. Ughhhhh. I don't wanna. But reports don't write themselves.
The board of the charity that I volunteer with met last week. We have a meeting today to hear the outcome. We've been without a director for 6 months so it's been only the volunteers running things.
I'm hoping to finish my closet project (started in October, oops) this week.
And a random, I couldn't figure out why one section of living room woodwork appeared to be in rough shape. Well, yesterday it occurred to me that DH and DS have been using that corner to bank a remote control car off of and flip the car for funsies. When I showed DH the damage, he was like oh crap...guilty.
Woot for being productive. I packed up the girls and we got groceries. Just put them up and now I need to load the girls back in the car so we can make it to music class. I stopped at Starbucks on the way home earlier so I'm feeling motivated. Lol. Caffeine for the win.
I’ve been on a video conference call since 5am. It’s currently 7am. We ha e another hour to go. Shoot me in the face, I’m tired.
What a waste of time! No one is paying attention after the 1 hour mark.
At about 5:45am, I put my foot in my mouth and said something that came across as borderline offensive without even thinking. I was taken by surprise by a comment my boss made and didn't take the time to think about the way I was phrasing my response, BECAUSE IT WAS 5:45AM AND I WAS SITTING IN FRONT OF A CAMERA. My boss thinks it was hilarious, and I'm absolutely mortified. My entire department was on the call. I'm going to go die now.

Pretty normal week for me. We have an appt for DS tomorrow morning and termite inspection at the new house in the afternoon. Otherwise, usual work/errands/normal stuff.
Our landlord decided to sell the property and her realtor and contractor are coming this week to do a walk through and assess changes they want to make. We have stuff everywhere so uh, good luck!
Crunch time. Stress time. We leave for Spain in a week so I have to get the house and laundry done this week, and packing next weekend. I also have to shop for a lead a craft at my mom's group, do a church volunteer event, sew S's Easter dress, and take a meal to my SIL who had a baby.
I feel overwhelmed so I'm sitting on the couch doing nothing.

Checking in! I feel like I never have a chance to post anymore. I've been buried in work + travel for work + appointments + etc. Then last week, a few days before we are set to leave for a wedding I start getting a pretty intense stomach pain out of the blue about 9pm. Within 15 mins I was on the floor and asking H to take me to the hospital. Yep, kidney stone! That B rivaled labor, I'll tell ya!
Anyhow, just trying to use this week to catch up on work and chores.
Update on school stuff: I reached out to an academic advisor, and apparently there's an exam I can take and submit with my MBA application to go along with my lower-than-it-should-be undergrad GPA. So... now I'm trying to figure out what that exam entails and if it would be reasonable to get it done before the deadline for fall term applications (may 15), or if I'll need to wait until next year to apply (fall term is the only start term for the MBA program at the university I'm looking at).

H and I decided to forgo the bigger vacation we wanted to take this year and instead do some stuff around the house. We're going to take off a week, send the kids to daycare, and work on the living room and playroom. I want to tear up this carpet because it's gross thanks to the cats, lol. I want to paint all the trim white and because I'm insane, I kinda want to paint the walls in the living room too. My hope was to restore the hardwood under the carpet (which was done in the bedrooms/hallway although they didn't completely finish it so it's all different colors...) but from the spots H has seen, he doesn't think it's in as good of condition. So we'll be looking for flooring.. something nice and durable for kids and a cat that likes to puke everywhere. Any suggestions? I'm open to laminate but probably not tile because I'm thinking that would get cold. I've always been a carpet person so it feels weird to be looking at wood flooring! I hope it doesn't make our house colder!
katespade I’m impatient, so I would personally want to try and finish my application by the May due date so I wouldn’t need to wait 1.5 years to start. Maybe if you dissect the application and do 1 big thing a week it wouldn’t feel so daunting. How exciting!!!
travelbug - I just found out that they're adding a spring start date as of 2019, but I don't really want to wait a year to start so I think I'm going to try and meet the May 15 deadline! I'm working on tracking down study materials for the exam and making a list of everything I need to do to get my application ready. I'd rather move forward with applying now and push back my start date, versus not applying and wishing I had.

Just caught up reading in the other thread, but thought I'd post here. I think if computer science interests you it is one of the best degrees to get these days. It opens up so many doors and keeps your job security much higher. I'm a little unclear if you're trying to get a computer science BS or a business MBA based on the various posts, but I think Comp Sci is great Good luck getting everything done by the deadline!

I was going to go for the Computer Science BS as a stepping stone toward my MBA, because my GPA from my current BS is just barely below the MBA admission requirement (thanks, health issues!). However, the per-credit cost for the CS classes is outrageous (twice as much as the normal per-credit cost, for some stupid reason) and I found out this morning that I have other options to potentially get around the low GPA issue and go straight to the MBA. So, I think I'm going to submit my MBA application and see what happens. If they reject me because of my GPA, I'll reconsider my options for a second BS as a stepping stone.
Also, it seems weird, but I would end up needing to take out quite a bit in additional student loans to pay for a second BS. However, my employer's tuition reimbursement would cover the entire cost of an MBA.

Your plan makes sense to me. I think most employers only pay for grad school because they assume they will get the most value out of that? My husbands jobs have all been the same way (He wanted to get additions BS degrees but they wouldn't pay any of that, but would pay for Masters)

Mine offers some reimbursement for a BS, but there's a cap on the amount per calendar year. I used it for my BS because the university I went to was $200 per credit. The CS classes I was looking at are almost $500 per credit, though, so I'd barely get anywhere before I ran out of reimbursement. Grad school has no cap on the amount, but you have to go through a more thorough process to get your reimbursement request approved.
Good luck katespade! I hope you're able to get everything in on time.
I'm majorly stressing out. We're leaving for vacation on Wednesday and our flight is at 8:20 in the morning. I still have two loads of kids laundry to do and nobody is packed. I'm hoping I can get a lot done while DS is at school tomorrow because I have to get some sleep tomorrow night.
estrellita- we will be replacing carpet at some point too (it’s new carpet so we will continue to let the boys destroy it and then replace when we redo the kitchen, knock out a couple walls, etc). My dad has his own carpet cleaning business...he actually cleans all kinds of flooring (carpet, tile, granite, travertine, wood, etc). He was recommending luxury vinyl flooring (that looks like wood). He also said stainmaster is great if we ever think we want to get a dog.
tacocat- good luck getting all packed for vacation!
Just a heads up for those that use an Instant Pot...don’t use it and a rice cooker on the same electrical unit, especially one that shares the same breaker as the refrigerator. I did that today while cooking dinner and killed our breaker 🙁. DH is hoping to fix it himself...if not we will be calling an electrician.
katespade So glad you found out about the exam option! Good luck studying. DH has been wanting to go back to school for years and has already started talking about it again since his new job started. His new company has some sort of online education connection with a degree that would directly relate to what he is doing. Someone he works with was telling him about it. I should ask him for more details....
I've been checking out books on my kindle and really focusing on reading. I've read 17 books so far this year. I hadn't read that many books in the past 3 years combined! I've really enjoyed reading again but I need to pace myself. I stayed up way too late to finish my book last night since it was being auto-returned today.
Today: Cleaning & Doctor's appointment Tomorrow: Cleaning & maybe going to play centre? Thursday: Swim lessons & Board meeting Friday: SO MUCH CLEANING & Storytime Saturday: C's birthday party!! Sunday: Church & collapse into a heap on the floor
I think we're going to look at houses one evening this week, I'm not sure.
Hey, MrsMB, I've got an HR/hiring question for you - If you're hiring for a technical position, would you consider formal education or professional certifications more important?
it's the first day of spring!!!! yay! I love spring.
and I'm spending it mostly indoors doing laundry, and working on my resume and some introduction letters. I'm going to a local nurse practitioner meeting tonight in hopes of landing some preceptors.
