Small brag that has the potential to be huge. On Monday, I found out at bedtime that something had happened at school earlier that day that made DD feel very anxious. Let me say that again. I FOUND OUT AT BEDTIME. This is because she was in a good mood all evening, even though she was gutsick worried. Normally she doesn't have the emotional regulation and resilience to handle it and takes it out on those around her (aka me) in a million tiny ways. Just last week I was feeling really frustrated because she was so constantly critical of everything I do or say or don't say or the way my face looks as I breathe etc. So this is a positive sign.
We took DD to the traditional church service last week, as it featured a donkey for Palm Sunday. The service is a bit quieter & slower than the one we usually attend. Sometimes she’s disruptive during the prayers before going to childcare. We emphasized “Calm body, quiet mouth” with DD, and she did really well. She had a doll & set her up with a hymnal. The couple behind us even complimented me on her behavior & said she was cute with the doll, which really never happens.
I am struggling with a brag. On one hand he has met several PT goals and was released from services. On the other hand she said his walking is still a problem, and I guess I am a bit upset that she only worked on it once in therapy and never assigned homework to do with it and he has made no progress on it in 7 months even though back in January she said she was happy with his leg progress which I thought included it. It's just one more thing I still have to do with him as homework when we are already doing eye tracking exercises, shoe tying, and arm and wrist exercises. And I have to fit them into two months because PT doesn't want him doing exercises after summer camp because he is active all day. Just not sure how to get it all done... I mean I know there is always next year, but I was hoping to get everything completed during this 9 month school year. And maybe taking a break next school year...
DS took a picture with the Easter bunny. Last year, I had to hold him and be in the picture. This year, he begged to take the picture and asked every day for a week. He sat down next to the rabbit and smiled so big. Then told him he wanted a giant chocolate bunny for Easter.
Last weekend was the neighborhood Easter egg hunt. DD had a sports conflict. She realized it was happening 20 min before we needed to go to the game, and we explained why we weren't going. She politely asked if she could go (the neighbors were going) and promised to be back in 20 min. I told her if she was late to the game she might not get to play but ok. 19:30 later and she came back with 2 bunny selfies which she had taken on her iPod.
