Hi all! Hope everyone had a nice Easter weekend. We got together with my H's family and they had a big Italian feast. It was a nice time.
I have been having a good amount of bleeding over the past day or two. But it's strange. There's nothing in my underwear and hardly anything there when I wipe, but every time I use the bathroom the toilet is full of blood. I'm trying to stay calm but this has me pretty rattled. I'm wondering if it could be coming from my bladder rather than the uterus? But what would that mean. I left a message with the doctor this morning and am waiting for a call back. I was 12 weeks yesterday...
I'm sorry about the bleeding, mpc. Could it be a uti or bladder infection? Hopefully it's nothing.
My baby does not want to sleep at night. It takes me from midnight to 3:30am to get him to go to sleep. And this is after 2 feedings and a couple of diaper changes. It's his party time. He's also doing a grunting thing that makes him spit up and choke. So we have an incline pillow under his dock a tot. Everything I've read online pretty much says the grunting is normal, but he seems so uncomfortable when he does it. He poops constantly, so it might have something to do with that. And I'm wondering if he has a bit of reflux. Luckily we have a pedi appointment this morning to ask her all of these questions.
Also, he wants to be held all the time. It's the only time he is truly calm. That's fine for during the day, but makes it very difficult to get sleep at night. Any tips? Would a weighted sleep sack help?
mpc, hugs. I'm with kellikans that it could be a bladder infection. Let us know what the doc says, I hope it's nothing.
kellikans - C went through a phase like that and I admit I slept with him on me on the couch a few times, I was desperate for sleep. What ended up working wonders for C was sleeping on his tummy, but I know a lot of kids love the weighted sleep sacks. Might be worth a shot to see if you can find a discounted one on FB marketplace or something to try out.
C turned 6 months last week which is crazy! He's so fun and learning so much each day. He likes to be fed and rocked to sleep though...sleep training starts on Friday. Wish us luck, he's not going to be happy about it but I can't handle 2-3 nightly wake-ups for him to be comfort fed back to sleep.
For those of you who sleep trained - how long did it take to notice a difference? A few days, few weeks?
kellikans, A used to grunt in her sleep, too. We couldn't have her in the room with us or we didn't sleep, and I wasn't ready to move her to the crib, so we ended up with a setup where we took shifts sleeping with her in the living room (she was in a bassinet). It's also really common for newborns to be most alert at night. I think it took A a good 4 weeks or so to switch her rhythms. I'm sorry, it's really rough.
mrsgoontz, we just sleep trained for bedtime. I didn't cut out any wake ups, but because of the sleep training she naturally dropped to 1-2 wake ups a night and went straight back to sleep after her bottle. She was quite small her first 14 months, so I figured if she was up, she must be hungry. I did let her cry after a MOTN bottle, though. She was a pretty chill baby and it took maybe 3-4 days of CIO at bedtime to make a difference, but I've heard up to 2 weeks for really fussy sleepers.
I have A home with me today, and I wish I'd read Oh Crap sooner. I would have cleared this weekend for potty training. I was hoping to wait until H was here full time, but now I'm worried I'll miss my window of opportunity. So I'm setting it for 2 weeks from now, and I hope I have the strength to do it myself...
Thanks all. My doc sent me for an ultrasound this afternoon and baby is happily bouncing around. I didn't get anything else from the tech and haven't actually spoken to my OB yet. Tomorrow morning I will go do some lab work, not sure what, then go by the office for a rhogam shot since I am O-. Hopefully the lab work will catch if it's a bladder thing. It's disconcerting, to say the least. But the ultrasound was pretty cool, and totally made up for not getting to do one at 10 weeks like she had told me.
mpc so glad you got to see that cute baby bouncing around!
I'm AB- but I didn't have to get my shot until like 28 weeks and then one within 48 hours of giving birth. Are they wanting you to get yours early just to be safe? They even made me carry a card in my wallet that verified that I'm AB- and I've had my rhogam shot, I didn't realize what a rare thing that is.
AB- is the rarest blood type, but I think anyone who gets the shot also gets the card. I’m A- and I had to get the shot twice after after birth and once after miscarriage.
mpc I’m glad you saw baby and they were bouncing around!
Anyone who is RH negative gets the shot, but yes AB negative is the rarest. I didn't know cards were handed out! Makes sense. (I'm on the during and after birth side of things, haha )
mpc, I think they sent you for the shot just in case.
Yes I've always had to get the shot with my miscarriages too, so they are having me do it now because of the bleeding.
pooh8402, I thought you only needed the shot if you were negative and the father was positive. do they make everyone who's negative get it? I've always joked with H that it's his fault I have to get it, lol.
I haven't been a frequent poster but figured I'd jump over here since I graduated from my RE today! Today was 7w5d and we saw/heard a hb of 164, up from 114 last week. I go to my regular OB in 2 weeks and will finally be done PIO shots (thank god!). Dr noticed some blood between the cervix and placenta but said it was small and wasn't too concerned, although it has me a little on edge since our loss back in Dec. Fx it goes away in the next few weeks without any problems. Overall we're excited but trying not to get our hopes up.

Yep my H is also negative and I still have to get it!

Yes, because the father is never 100% certain... you know? We've had moms swear up and down in the dad's presence that it's his kid, then in private, tell the healthcare providers something different. Or even swear up and down to the providers that it's his, then the blood type of the baby doesn't make sense for what the father's is (I've had this happen before).
We like to believe that all of our patients are honest, and like 98% of the time, they are. However, we have to treat everyone the same.
mpc, glad everything looked good on ultrasound! Your bleeding sounds like mine was a couple weeks ago, woke up with no blood on my liner, peed, and all the toilet water was red. So alarming. I didn't have any more, but on my most recent scan there were a couple small pockets of likely blood/bleeding. Doc said it was ok if I had a little bleeding like previously, he'd rather those little pockets of blood empty out as the uterus grows instead of staying there and continuing to get bigger or something like that. I hope your bleeding stops soon!
seaturtle, Yay for graduating! I have one more RE visit next week and then I'll graduate. Also I get to stop crinone on Sunday when I hit 10 weeks and I am so so so ready to be done with that! I may have stolen a couple of those giant q-tip looking swabs from the office last week to help clear everything out after I'm officially done with crinone.
kellikans, sorry I don't have much advice, I hope the pedi can help! Newborns definitely tend to have opposite sleep cycles, possibly because in the womb they are rocked to sleep a lot by mom's walking/moving during the day and then are awake at night without that rhythmic motion to soothe them, and it just carries over. Maybe try some positional aids to help him feel more snuggled while sleeping, we do that with babies in the nursery sometimes (roll up a blanket into a long tube, tuck under his legs/along his sides so he feels more contained while laying down)? Or they make those bean bag filled things in the shape of an arm/hand that you can lay across/along his body, similar to a weighted blanket but mimics your arms.
I went to the office this morning to get my rhogam shot and told the nurse I really thought it was from my bladder and not vaginal. She had me pee in a cup and then said she had never seen so much blood in someone's sample before. They also had me insert and remove a tampon to check for blood in the vagina and there was none. So simple, I hadn't thought to do that. They are giving me antibiotics and also an order for a renal ultrasound to check for kidney stones. I had a kidney stone once and it was incredibly painful. Hard to believe I could have one again without pain, but we'll see I guess.
We are taking our big sheddy dog to the groomers for a furminator treatment today, I hope it helps. Thursday we have a breastfeeding info session at my yoga studio and then Monday we have a prenatal birthing class there too. We are taking the car to get detailed on Monday and then installing the car seat after that.
I have the rest of all my OB appointments booked, things are getting real! So close. The next few weeks are going to be so busy.

I hope everything is ok. When I had some bleeding I got sent for the shot too, I think it's pretty standard and they like to just play is super safe!

Glad the baby is fine mpc, hope they figure out the issue soon!
kellikans, how did your appt go? I don't really remember E having the grunts, but it's supposed to be common in preemies.
We met with the plastic surgeon today, and E has to have reconstructive surgery to make room for her brain to grow. Probably in September, unless the doctor thinks it needs to be sooner. I don't even really know what to think, the thought of someone taking part of my child's skull off and re-shaping it is a little more than I can really wrap my head around right now.
thoseareradishes, appointment went fine. Pediatrician said everything he's been doing is normal. He may have a bit of reflux as well, but she wants to hold off on medication for now and see how he's doing next week. And he's up to 5lbs4oz! He's gained a pound and an ounce since he was born!
I'm sorry E has to have surgery. I'm sure it's overwhelming and scary to think about. I actually work in the operating room at a children's hospital in plastic surgery where we do calvarial vault remodeling/frontal orbital advancements a few times a week. Let me know if you have any questions about it.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
Mushe, we have one. It definitely helps him feel like he's not in such a huge space. I went and bought a fisher price vibrating bassinet today. I have the dock a tot in there. We'll see how that works out tonight.
kellikans, P was a grunter, too. He had some time where he woke up constantly between 4-6 am. I brought him into bed and let him sleep on my chest. Safe? Maybe not. But it's also not safe to not have anyone sleeping, and I woke up every time he moved a muscle.
P is currently working on 4 teeth at the same time. He had a third bottom tooth pop through last week, and has had two top teeth barely break the surface in the last two days. He's a little cranky, but you'd think he'd be MISERABLE and he's not. We had to move his mattress pretty much to the floor because I caught him yesterday trying to lean and climb the rails. Little adventurer I have. He's into EVERYTHING. I'm so tired. He's also now torturing the cat. I try to get him to leave her alone. I went to pet her on the head yesterday and she swatted at me. He sat there and smacked her in the belly for 5 minutes and she just laid there and took it. She's a good girl.
After being absent for a very long time, AF finally showed back up 9.5 postpartum. I'm now back to temping and charting. We're not TTC yet, but I think I'd like to start trying next month. We'll see if I can get DH on with that plan. I don't foresee any scenario under which we get pregnant on our own, but might as well give it a shot. I can't do an FET until I wean P. I'm wondering if I can update my testing before then so that we're all set when we're ready to go in. I'd ideally like to do it in July or August, but we'll see what DH thinks.

G is 9 months today (nearly 8 months adjusted) and is on the move! Crawling like crazy (though more of an army crawl, but since he's so good at it, I doubt he'll ever bother to do a real, proper crawl), and sitting up from laying down, and starting to pull up on things. He hasn't started cruising yet (thank God), but I doubt it's too far off! I've started planning his birthday party, and J is officially a SAHD now, so things are starting to settle down from the craziness that was the past few months. He's also STTN pretty consistently, which has been a godsend, so I only pray that continues. He has 1 tooth starting to poke out on the bottom, but he's drooling like mad, so I'm thinking more are coming in.
Swim lessons are going well for him...he loves being in the water. We are officially T- 37 days until PR!!!

Oh, speaking of teeth, on E's CT scan we could see her canines and first molars hiding right under the surface of her gums! She has all eight of her front teeth now, so hopefully we get a break for a little bit?
