I'm not sure if any of you will remember me, but I just had my son in August, after four years TTC (3 IUIs, 1 IVF cycle and 2 FETs).
We're ready to get the ball rolling on #2 and we have our consultation next month. Is there anything important I should ask now that we're trying again?
FWIW, I was 34 when I got pregnant with my son and will be 35 with this new treatment cycle, so I will be asking how age will affect my protocol.
I keep feeling like damn, I’ve been here forever! when people say they’re going back for #2, so I’m relieved that you say your DS was just born in August! 😆
I don’t have personal experience, but I’d want to check and make sure that they don’t want to redo any testing. So long as you’re only transferring, and not doing a fresh cycle, it should hopefully be as simple as scheduling!
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
Also, I feel like doctors today are very meh about age. I’m 39, and had to ask multiple times about what I needed to do differently! I am being referred to an MFM for my anatomy scan, but that’s it.

Are you going to the same RE? Do you have embryos leftover?
I would just ask what the process is and how it may differ from your previous cycles, timeline, if any testing needs to be updated. I don't know if you're still nursing, but if so, ask about that. Many REs want their patients weaned.
And I'm 34 now as well, and when we go for IVF #3, I'll be 35+ at the time that any baby would be due. I think some REs may do some extra testing like PGS, but not all.
That definitely changes things. I’m sorry you’re having to start over with a fresh cycle. You’ll definitely want to rest AMH and FSH, but hopefully you won’t have to do an HSG again. You’re still quite young, so unless there’s reason to believe the AMH would be a problem, try not to borrow trouble! Taking CoQ10 and fish oil now can help make sure you’re in the best position when you’re ready to retrieve.
If you’re wanting to do embryo testing, I’d ask what they use. There are multiple options - PGS/PGD/CCS - with varying costs and what exactly they test for. My RE suggested we not do testing unless I had more embryos than expected, because my haul was projected to be so low. I know some here had a threshold, like they’d test if they had more than 3/4/5 blasts, but not under.

I would talk through the PGS options and also timing. I went to the RE when DD was 6 months and wanted at least two years between kids but was 35 with DOR and wanted to do PGS. Based on that, she suggested proceeding immediately to IVF with freeze all and PGS until I had 2 or 3 viable embryos, then starting transfers when I was ready.
I just wanted to hop in so we can be #2 buddies! I'm going to call in this week to start getting my testing updated. I know I have to wean before they'll let me do a FET, but I don't know if I have to have P weaned before I start doing my tests.
