She keeps barking/whining to go out at 2am. She goes out before bed (around 8-9pm).
I just need some sleep. I've tried crating her and it doesn't seem to help. The only way I get sleep is if I send her upstairs to sleep with my son and that seems to have stopped working too.

My geriatric 12 year old Great Pyr needs to pee every three hours. I finally gave in and got her a dog door. I get sleep, she lets herself out to pee in the middle of the night with limited barking. Not the best answer everywhere or for every dog.
In spayed females, incontinence is common as they age. There's medication they can take if they are dribbling inside, but it doesn't sound like that's the issue. We're not there yet either.
I keep my two pups up later, especially this time of year, so I don't deal with the 3 am "I want to go out" business. Mainly because I know it is because of some critter outside not because Willow (who is a 9yo female) has to pee. Mine doesn't do the middle of the night thing in the winter only when the weather is good enough for critters to be around.
