I'm off all next week. It feels fabulous. My boss, of course, will choose not to respect it (it's not a "real" vacation, so you'll be available for calls right??) and I won't fight him too hard over it, since I've had a LOT of personal time that I've taken so far this year that wasn't scheduled or planned that he accommodated without much of a fuss.
In other news, I'm celebrating my 3 year anniversary here, which random people on LinkedIn are congratulating me on. I can only identify a handful of the connections who reached out. Who are these people and how did I become LinkedIn connections with them!?!?
Today is the best day! I took a personal day. I ran 12 miles on a trail, ate a sandwich and had coffee in a deli by myself, rolled/stretched at the gym and went to the steam room and sauna, shopped for work clothes by myself at Kohls. Came home to a clean house since the cleaners came today. Now I settled down for an ice cream sandwich in my bed with my back massager on and just turned on Into the Wild. Hopefully I fall asleep, the kids don't get picked up fro 2 more hours. This is the best day ever! DH will be out of town all week next week so it couldn't have come at a better time. Then the kids will go to the kids night at the gym where they feed them and take them swimming while DH and I go to dinner.
Tomorrow DD has a soccer game, and then I'm going to a tea with my mom and they are serving mimosas. DH will have to take the little ones to fencing practice for DS and the grocery store during the afternoon (nap time) which is awful, but he will finally experience what I do when he is gone once a month.
Sunday regular catch up on housework, projects but otherwise no plans. He will be seeding the yard which will take all day. My patio is coming together!

campermom , I’m so jealous - your day sounds amazing!
I leave for my work trip to London tomorrow at 9 am (leaving the house at 6 am...ugh). It was the only day/time combo that would get me there for a reasonable amount. If I left any later, the cost was $2-3K. But I’m looking forward to some time to myself after a crazy tax season for my DH. I arrive at almost midnight on Saturday but at least I have all day Sunday to sleep/adjust and my meetings don’t start until after lunch on Monday. Plus I’m happy it’s not an overnight flight this time. I cannot sleep on planes so now I don’t even have to worry about trying. If I’m tired, I’ll nap, otherwise I’ll watch movies, read or just enjoy the freakishly tiny area I will have to myself 🙄.
This should probably go in TWERKS but I’m too lazy. I mentioned that my SS was staying with us and I overheard a convo between he and his mom that lead me to believe he was going to be on my couch until June. But DH talked to him and it sounds like he’s moving out by the end of this month. Fingers crossed that is true. I want my living room back. And my dining room where all of his crap is.

Today was one of my work Fridays, but I could still look out the window and see sunshine and no snow. Such a beautiful sight!
Saturday: Not much planned during the day. It looks like actual, real spring weather this weekend, so we’ll be spending a lot of time outside. Then DS has a friend’s birthday party and sleepover Saturday evening/night. DH is going to take DD on a daddy-daughter date while DS is at the birthday party, so I am going to enjoy some “me” time at home and get some take-out and watch a movie. (The "me" time is also kind of a make-up from last Saturday when my "day away" got shortened to about a half-day away due to the weather.)
Sunday: We have church in the morning and then small group at our house in the early evening. If the weather is nice, we’ll get outside again in the afternoon.
Sometime this weekend I'll need to do some regular cleaning/chores.
Random: The kids' elementary school is getting a new principal next year as the current one is retiring at the end of this year, so I went to the PTO meeting last night where they introduced the new principal. Hopefully he's good. But also big news last night was that they are going to add another class in 2nd and 3rd grade next year (which is the grades my kids will be in next year). They definitely need them, but there are no vacant rooms, so at least one of the new classes might be in a portable. I just wish the district would have done more to create a long-term strategy to address the class size issue when DS was in Kindergarten. The out-going principal said that supposedly they will add another 4th grade and 5th grade as DS's class progresses, but I have no idea where those classes will go if there isn't even room for 2 more next year.
k3am , my work anniversary was this week too. I had all kinds of people I don't actually know congratulate me on LinkedIn. I don't congratulate others or spend much time on there, so I didn't know it was a thing.
I just finished a beautiful walk outside on my lunch. 30 more minutes and I am out. I have went from the topics of Tobacco/Workplace Wellness/Needle Exchange Opiates/Child Abuse Awareness in 2 counties all in one day, so I am beat. I may stop at the greenhouse on the way home to get some flowers.
Volleyball at 9:15 in the morning, then a run, then we go to the picnic grounds to begin our spring burgoo/chicken sale fundraiser for the school. We will be up there the entire afternoon. Ds has a birthday party to attend which he needs to be picked up from at 11 pm, which is about 1 hour past my bedtime.
Sunday, we are back at the picnic grounds at 8:30 am (which will not give me my weekend lounge, sleep time) to prep and sell the burgoo and barbeque. Hopefully out by noon to run and actually plant the flowers.
This makes me tired now that I typed it out.
I almost forgot - I also spent about 20 minutes today jabbing 25 pinwheels into the ground at an intersection for Child Abuse Awareness. I am not sure how I get into some of this.
I’m off today with an almost 4 year old who came home yesterday with a fever and puking. DH took over 5 hours to prepare for, go on, and clean up from a run. I was seriously annoyed and didn’t hide it. No wonder he can’t get shit done if he spends 5 hours every day on his flipping exercise routine. I spent that time on multiple work calls, cleaning up vomit, and entertaining a kid who feels very good when he isn’t vomiting.
Tomorrow we have two tee ball games if we aren’t rained out. That’s it for the whole weekend, which is awesome!!! We are going to order a fancy cake for DS’s party at some point and go grocery shopping. Also, next week is the St Jude Trike a Thon so we need to practice riding our bikes and trikes.
My niece's first birthday party is tomorrow! It's low key but will be fun to celebrate with everyone. Sunday I've got tickets to a show as part of our season. It's yet another girls' day with a friend, since DH has refused to attend a single show since we bought the tickets. It'll be fun though!

... did he go on a 24-mile run?
That is annoying as hell. Especially with a very sick child! I took less than that to drive 40 minutes, run 12, order and eat food, drive back, stretch and foam roll, and steam-room/sauna/shower.
Now I’m curious how much he ran, too. This is how much husband is at any task too. They take all day long.

I'm about to go swim (which will take less than 5 hours) and then I want to eat pizza for dinner. I think I may be coming up with a theory as to why I'm fat but work out all the time...
Tomorrow is Baseball, Gymnastics and then I'm going for a bike ride. It will take less than 5 hours. Then my mom is making me dinner so I'll take the kids over to her house while DH plays in a card tournament.
Sunday is my long run (that will take less than 5 hours), and a kids birthday party.
I'm looking forward to sunday. I like that kid's parents and it will me nice to chat with the folks there.

Dh got stuck in traffic last night due to seriously bad planning and made it to Cub Scouts an hour late. I was so annoyed as last month I told him I wasn’t taking both boys alone again as it’s awful. Ds2 is almost 2 and doesn’t want to sit and listen and is distracting to all the other boys. A friend saved me and watched Ds2 for the hour I had to be at cub scouts until dh showed up and I could go pick up Ds2.
He also doesn’t know if he has to work this weekend or not and it’s Friday afternoon. We are volunteering to make over a high school tomorrow morning with our church and then may head to the racetrack for ds1s first race....unless dh has to work. Ugh. I like planning. I don’t like last minute decisions and not knowing what we are doing. DHs job sucks so much now as he’s always putting out fires and working 80 hours every week. He just got a $20k bonus and his first thought was “is it really worth it?” Instead of “yea!”

I spent the day cleaning our rental property that we are selling. I have never seen bathrooms like that. H is flying out this weekend so I’ll have to go over there later next week and finish scouring. It is almost ready but now my realtor suggests sod. The open house is in about two weeks and between repairs, all new paint, pressure washing, yard cleanup, I am starting to feel tapped out. Did the state of the grass influence your home purchase?
This weekend is some Girl Scout stuff tomorrow and visiting my parents on Sunday (my grandma just moved in while my parents move her from assisted living to memory care 😢). I just need to get through the rest of Scouts and get this house sold and the other rented. I’m not doing a damned unnecessary thing once that is done. Laziest summer ever. Not a thing!

I'm on my way to visit my BFF! We have a spa appointment booked for tomorrow, but otherwise I have no plans. I'll probably just cuddle with her baby and get quickly reminded on why I don't like babies.
I fly home Sunday night, then DH is out of town Tuesday - Friday, and we leave for France on Saturday. So at some point we'd need to pack.
The kids were on spring break this week, so DH took a 1/2 day today and we went bowling. Then we took them out to dinner to celebrate good report cards. The rest of the weekend will be spent on some serious yard work. 8 cubic yards of mulch. Woo.
So a mom of a girl in DD1s class and I have become friendly. Take the kids places together, occasionally pick up for the other when in a jam. She texted to ask if DD1 would like to come over for a play date. I said sure - save her from the yard work we have planned and gove the kids a break from each other. She replied with “Great. Oh, and we have plans tomorrow night. Can you take our DD?” Um... she’s been here without her mom exactly twice. We have never done a sleepover with ANYONE. And I am not up for it. So I said I would be happy to take her for a while, but not an overnight. Crickets. It’s been 5 hours. I believe I have lost my mom friend over not being bulldozed into a sleepover.

He actually ran for a little over an hour. He spent god knows how long getting dressed, 1.5 hours stretching here before he left, drove 20 minutes each way, stretched again, and then took his sweet ass time stretching out, pooping, showering and getting dressed once he got home. I was so pissed off.

That's what makes me LOL
Hasnt WP (WM) had this conversation before!? Why do men have to poop at the witching hour and why do they take so long!

covergirl82, DH being a teacher and my parents working in custodian/secretary roles in schools, I have heard for years about class sizes and the budgeting behind it. My parents' school district built a new school with levy money about 15 years ago. They were only allowed to build a school based on enrollment at the time the levy passed. By the time the school was built, enrollment was twice the size, so a brand new school opened with portable classrooms. 15 years later, enrollment is smaller than what the school was built for. So with schools tight budgets and legalities, they have a hard time planning based on estimated enrollments.
DH took yesterday off for DS's 5 year check up. For the first 2 years, DS was barely registering in the 5th percentile. Yesterday he was 45th for height and 40th for weight. Yay! We went out to lunch at this great café. I even got a 2 hour nap.
Sunday is my mom's birthday party dinner at their house. I'm working all weekend. I'm really hoping it's not busy so I don't end up with mandatory OT.
librarychica we wouldn’t turn down a house with a bad yard (you can’t here), but the house bought has a beautiful yard and it’s gravy. It also was probably a small part of why we were willing to pay as much as we did.
librarychica, I think it has a psychological impact. Which I hate to say because reading your post I feel tired on your behalf.
I’m tired for me! I haven’t had much luck on the “find someone to install” front. The current plan is call around more Monday, beg my brother to help us lay down in the worse spots when we do the rest of the sprucing up (mulch, flowers, etc). The realtor and I spoke again and she basically says to try for it but not postpone the open house for it.
