I'm reading the IMDB and it honestly sounds pretty terrible. Is it what I'm getting the impression of - which is just another "blood is scary, MOAR BLOOD!" movie?

It's not that gory, really. It's really just terrifying because it takes you inside what could be a very true-to-life Westboro Baptist Church service, probably minus the killing.

Well, WBC doesn't kill people, but yes.. it's supposed to be "loosely-based" on them. WBC is in the middle of the city so it'd be hard to hide the bodies -- I live near there and I've seen their compound -- but they are still awful people.
That movie gave me nightmares too. TOO close to home for me, but I had to watch it. (Not my choice, it was forced upon me.)
And a very "6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon", a friend of mine knows Kevin Smith (he's a film graduate, twitter follower, etc.) and he wrote it because WBC protested him once. Counter protests weren't sufficient enough for KS.

My husband and his friend watched it together at our house and I was like "okay, it won't be that bad. he made clerks, I like that movie." I didn't realize how wrong I was until I was already up to my chin in blanket hiding myself.
