I’m totally judging my half-sister and her baby daddy for registering on Amazon, sharing the registry on FB and it says to have items shipped to “their home” when they live with my dad and stepmom (and 21 year old half-brother). It’s not your home, it’s my dad’s home and he’s the only one that works to support all of your lazy asses.
I am not judging anyone or thing too hard right now. I think I have too much on my mental plate right now. lol You can judge me for having zero patience for my testy, emotional 6 year old who has made it her mission to annoy me as much as possible today. lol
I don't think so, but they are hardly as popular and in your face as some of the others that are more current.
I just wondered because the feelings here seem to be that ALL MLMs are the devil, but MK and Avon are MLMs too.
I think Avon got away from the "home" based business a while ago. I've seen retail shops for them and you can order online w/o a consultant. My mom loves some of their stuff, but she says she just goes online and orders.
I “sold” Mark. (Period necessary) in college. I don’t know if they still make it. It was Avon for young people. I never actually sold any, I just bought it at the discount for myself, lol.
I don't think Avon is in the same category. They are self sustaining without ripping people off with overly expensive product. Based on google they have been in business for 132 years,
All these new companies on the market are making them look bad. I am defensive since I have always been a Avon fan and my mom sells it (as a helper) and gets discounts.

They just don't seem to be relevant anymore. Out of sight out of mind I guess. Like I can't remember the last time I've heard about either one. Whereas LLR, Lipsense, Beach Body, etc are in our faces.
So is the disdain because they are so visible or because of their business practice or both?
(I have been wondering about this for a while lol. Also, now with social media it is more invasive than the old door-to-door and party methods)

I don't have anything against the two I mentioned, I was just curious. My cousin used to work for Avon corporate.
I judge the person who sells Tupperware at a local market because there's a sign on their stand that says "Your husband called. He said you could buy anything you want." I also judge the market for letting so many MLMs sell there. It used to be a farmers market.

Do people hate Usborne Books and More? It's children's books, I can't imagine it has a lot of hate, but it's an MLM.
I went to a Meetup on Saturday night and one of the girls (first time meeting) there sells It Works.
She was wearing an It works shirt and bag. She said if she wears her It Works short to dinner she can write off her meal on her taxes.
I don't think that's how things work....
She also gave our server a business card 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
She’s going to have a harsh reality cause the tax code changed and you can’t wrote of meals...even for marketing. (Not a tax accountant and pretty sure that’s what my neighbor meant when they were talking about it).

My mom was a super sensitive sally this week over a FB comment I made. She complained to my sister. To keep the peace I apologized, but it was stupid, and i'm annoyed I apologized LOL.
I really judge pretty much everything about my half-brother and half-sister’s lives. To be fair, they didn’t really have much of a shot growing up with my dad and stepmom.

Doesnt Avon/mary Kay work the same way? A mlm works the same way regardless of how long they have been around.

Why are they “different”?
Because I have never heard of anybody having to go bankrupt from selling Avon or having to have a ton of inventory on hand. (I could be wrong) They really have not embraced new technologies like Facebook and doing live demo's. Like someone said they aren't as relevant anymore. But old people Avon consumers have their people they buy from. Like my mom for instance. They like looking through the catalogs and the pricing is not crazy expensive like MK. They also sale more than just make-up.
I’m judging a FB friend who sells Beachbody. (Used to be a friend until I didn’t buy into her MLM...now she’ll barely say hello.) She posts nearly daily pictures of herself barely clothed and is now entering a bikini competition. She has an elementary aged son. I wonder how long it’ll be before he’s like, “Mom, do you REALLY have to show your abs and ass to the entire world on a daily basis?” To be clear, I have zero problem with moms wearing bikinis or feeling great about their bodies, but this feels...different.
I have zero desire to respond to or interact with posters who have changed their screenname and I don't know who they used to be. I'm guessing 90% of posters who have done this have no valid reason to do it besides "they felt like it" and not to hide personal revealing info.
But, I see this thread has turned into another MLM discussion thread so I'll go away now.
People playing coy about who they used to be...uggghhh

I have a "friend" on FB who's house is disgusting. I am not saying normal clutter. I am saying days old food left out on the counter, nasty unknown stains on the carpet, and messy dirty beds. Shit piled EVERYWHERE. And she posts pictures of her kids all the time in the house. Like, take pictures outside so people can't see how filthy it is.

My house is very cluttered.
There’s no way around it if I want to take photos of my kids indoors. LOL.

I went to a meetup for people who worked from home once. Exactly once. There were 2-3 people who worked regular office jobs, just from home. Everyone else in a group of about 20 had an MLM, was trying to sell insurance, or made/sold crafts out of their house.

Wait, it's coy to tell you to get the admin to match IP's to confirm I'm not a long time poster? Ok.
I think you all would be shocked to know how many people still read these forums. It's entertaining!
Think of it as the Truman Show. I'm invested and I just wanted to be an extra these days.
