DS's school has normal snacks at snacktime - goldfish, pretzels, etc. - They are doing a unit the last week of the month on Fall. Would it be weird if I asked the teacher if I could bring in a fall-themed snack (mini pumpkin muffins or something?) ??
There are very few opportunities to do much at DS's school so I thought this would be nice, but I don't want to overstep. If the kids don't like my snack then they have the other stuff there. Would it also be weird if I brought the snack and stayed for snack time (parents do this for birthdays and the teacher has an open door policy so we can visit at anytime).
Any other ideas on fall snacks? The teachers do not allow cupcakes and things on birthdays because of the mess so it would have to be one bite foods or pretty non-messy.
You could offer but I wouldn't because I am both lazy and don't want to rock the boat. Have you considered asking how you could be involved and let the teach make a suggestion? It might be pumpkin muffins but it might be something else like helping with a craft.
My school has parents sign up for healthy snack days (e.g. fruit cups) and they want everyone to come on 1 Friday over the year. On those days the kids have challah and grape juice.
ETA: apples are not allowed at my preschool since they are a choking risk.

Agree w/ the "probably won't let you bring baked goods" argument b/c you can't guarantee there's no nuts, gluten or otherwise. Sucks, but alas, such is the world we live in today.

Totally depends on the school. At DS's preschool, if your child has an allergy, you have to provide all their food. DS has celiac and even though fruit and apple juice are totally safe, they will not give him anything that I haven't supplied.
They do allow cupcakes for birthdays and they ask me (and all parents w/ kids w/ allergies) to supply them w/ cupcakes that they can keep in the freezer for these occasions.
So, OP, you need to talk to the school and find out what they allow/don't allow.
