I did laundry and grocery shopping yesterday so I don’t have to today. Taking the boys to Disneyland this morning while we have the finishing day of our fake grass being installed! Hoping to come home for naps.
Tuesday- it’s supposed to rain so no plans, just an easy day at home. Might do an art project with C for Mother’s Day for the grandparents.
Wednesday- preschool, run with friend (if it doesn’t rain), Mother’s Day tea at preschool...super stoked to have that time with C!
Thursday- run and park
Friday- preschool, run, lots of chores
Saturday- hoping to convince DH to either go SUP at the lake or harbor...I probably need to run as well.
Sunday- my brother is having an open house/house warming party in the afternoon! I get to see a lot of family I don’t get to see much since we moved (my aunt/mom’s sister and step dad)!

I’m working today which feels weird. I usually never work mondays.
We fly out extremely early Thursday to Florida. H has interviews Thursday afternoon and Friday. While he does the interviews, I’ll be driving around to see the area.
Saturday we plan on spending the day with the ILs. We may even talk them to a picnic on the beach.
Sunday we fly home in the morning. We may stop at a winery on the way depending how tired we are.
Tomorrow is my wisdom teeth surgery so the rest of the week will be a wash. DH is staying home Weds & Thurs so I'm hoping he'll take C to swim lessons.
After my emergency gallbladder removal last year, surgery doesn't scare me, but recovery does. DH is worried that I haven't wrapped my head around how long it will take to recover. This has me freaking out about drinking & eating.
Mini vent: I told DH about the wine tasting event that I planned to go on May 11. He said wine & pain meds are a no go, which is obvious but I had forgotten, so now I'm sad that I'll be recovering through all the fun things I had planned for May. I was hoping to make a trip to the ILs since we're encroaching on a year from our last visit but we'll have to see.

Unless you're having something special done, your wisdom teeth surgery shouldn't be too big of a deal. I had mine out on a Friday and I was back to work on Tuesday (and I worked in a dental office at the time!). I took pain meds the first day, only because I was too out of it to tell H to give me regular Tylenol instead. I switched to OTC the next day and the pain was completely manageable. You shouldn't need to worry about mixing pain meds and alcohol by the 11th.
My biggest recommendation is ice packs, ice packs, ice packs. For the first 24 hours, rotate 20 min on and 20 min off. You can use a scarf to help hold them in place. I barely had any swelling and had no bruising at all, and I attribute it completely to the amount of ice packs I used (and I typically bruise/swell very easily).
Do not listen to them if they say that pasta is safe to eat. It will get stuck under your stitches, and it's awful to try and flush out. Stick to pureed types of foods - I pretty much lived on mashed potatoes for the first few days. No straws, no swishing, no spitting, etc. They'll go over this with you post-op, but you might not be able to pay as much attention at that point so it's important to start thinking about it now. It helps to start paying attention to how you do things now (brushing your teeth, using mouthwash, rinsing your mouth, drinking, eating, etc) and thinking about how you'll need to do them differently while you're healing.
I am in so much pain. I feel like my entire body is one giant bruise, and I somehow managed to hurt my foot without actually doing anything to it.
Also, my house is not put back together yet. The living room is done, minus crown molding, but we haven't moved the furniture back so it's just an empty room right now. Which means that the dining room is full of the living room furniture and is a total disaster. I'm so ready to have an actual house again. I'm tired and I'm cranky and I hurt and I'm over this. It's going to be worth it once it's done, but I'm just ready for it be done now.
No big plans this week, other than hopefully finishing up everything that's left over from last week.
Waiting on AF, which is due sometime this weekend. Not feeling hopeful about this cycle, which is not helping my crankiness.
Not much going on this week, just a little work outing on Fri for food and margaritas!
Where do people buy shoes? Like tennis shoes? I usually go to Kohls but I haven't been finding anything. Also tried Famous Footwear, another shoe place at the mall, Target, and a couple outlets. I don't want the ones with the kind of meshy fabric since I already have some like that. Prefer $50 or under. Where am I not thinking of?
@opal I think you should be just fine for May 11th. I got mine out as a senior in high school and I was fully healed up after a week. I don’t think you should have to cancel your plans. Good luck!
suzv Ugh! Your MIL sounds like a piece of work. What a stressful weekend... <3
katespade I hate that too!!! Can’t wait to see the finished look
Easy week for me, I work wed and thurs. Leaving for WI on Friday morning, returning Saturday. We are bringing my grandma back to stay with us for a few days which I’m excited about. It’s been a long time since she’s been in the states and never been to our city. Then my mom is meeting us down here on Sunday. Then they both leaving on Tuesday. Which means LOTS and LOTS d chores today and tomorrow!
If you were having foot pain, how long would you wait before you decided to go to the doctor? (My answer is usually to suck it up and not bother with the doctor at all, but I also don't want to ignore it if it's something I should be seen for).
Pain started on Saturday evening.
When I wake up in the morning, it isn't as bad. Within a few minutes of walking on it, the pain gets worse again and continues to escalate throughout the day. It hurts to arch/twist/bend my foot, and hurts when I flex my big toe up or curl it down. Wearing shoes also hurts. I am definitely limping, but not completely unable to put pressure on it. Pain lessens when I don't have pressure on it.
Minor swelling, but I do think there is some.
No specific trauma, but I have spent a lot more time than normal on my feet over the past week.
The pain is centered around this area of my inner foot:
This week is starting off much better than last week. We're expecting a heat wave (near to 90!) later this week even though today is barely in the 50's. In preparation, I precooked and meal prepped a bunch of things yesterday so that we can spend the afternoons after work/school enjoying the outside.
I have a follow up ENT appt after work one day with G, but nothing else on the agenda which is nice. My main goal is to try to find some shrubs/plants that would look nice by our pool. We have three beds that are just overgrown weeds so we're starting from scratch and I'm a little overwhelmed. I'd welcome suggestions for shrubs that don't require much upkeep and stay relatively compact.
H ripped out our half bath down to the studs sometime in January. He's been SLOWLY working on it over the winter and now he's in a panic about not having it done for G's first birthday party in a few weeks. He took a half day today to grout the tile and then finally we can get the vanity and toilet in this weekend hopefully. I'm trying to be patient because I actually am super impressed with the work he has done so far all on his own given that he's self taught (from YouTube videos!)
katespade I would try rest, ice, and an anti inflammatory before heading to the doctor. Mostly because the doctor probably won't be able to tell you much and will recommend the same as above. I usually give stuff like that a week or two to resolve on its own before I bother with a doctor. But that's just my opinion
Sorry that you are in pain.
That makes sense. I can't take anti-inflammatories because they tear up my stomach, but I can do everything else! If it keeps getting worse or isn't better in the next couple of weeks, I'll think about going to get it checked out. Hopefully, it's just the strain of how much time I spent on my feet and I'll be fine in a few days.
HoneySpider- good luck unpacking and getting settled into the new place!
katespade- I would give it 1-2 weeks. Sorry you are in so much pain and hope it improves soon.
We got to meet up with my HS BFF and her family at Disneyland today! We stayed for 4.5 hours (about 3.5 hours in the park) and were able to do 8 rides! It was pretty busy too so I think I just planned it out really well and got lucky! Six of the rides were done in the first 1:45 we were there! I think I will do more of our days like today vs going mid day!
See, I think the same as you guys! I was on Tylenol & Advil post gallbladder removal and I figured it would be similar pain management. He’s probably worried about me and just being overly cautious in case something goes awry.
katespade DH had his out the first year that we were married. Poor doped up guy kept trying to summarize those instructions to me “no straws! No balloons!” He was also back to work Monday after a Friday surgery.

Agree with this. My favorite recommendation is to buy a giant milkshake, keep it in the freezer. When you start hurting, take a few bites with a spoon. The cold helps so much. It took me about 2 weeks to be able to chew food again, but I was able to manage my pain with ibuprofen and that milkshake.

Yes - I wish I had thought of that! lol. And I actually also took ice packs when I went back to work and kept them in the freezer there so I could ice my jaw during my breaks, because it stayed sore for probably almost a month afterward.
@opal - If you can get away with limiting your talking when you go back to work, it can make a big difference in how much lingering discomfort you have as your jaw is healing.
katespade, re: your foot, I'm a wimp when it comes to pain (plus I have a very physical job), so I would be at the doctor after 48-72 hours of RICE and OTC pain meds with no improvement. The last time I had pain like you're describing, it was a stress fracture.

That's exactly what I'm concerned about. I'm thinking I might give it until Friday to show any signs of improvement. If it's getting better by then, I'll assume it's not a big deal. If it hasn't gotten better (or it's worse), I'll go in to get it checked out. If I can, I'd like to avoid an x-ray during the TWW (which is probably me being ridiculous and overcautious, but oh well). But if it's a stress fracture or something similar, I don't want to make it worse by waiting too long.

Yes, overly cautious for xrays of the foot. You can always ask for a lead apron though... I have during TWW.
