Has it gone from cooler to suddenly warmer lately? That will do it to me until I adjust.
I did notice that if I am not up walking around several times a day, my feet swell. I work an office job and the days I forget to walk it out...you can then see sock indentations (if I am wearing any) in my skin, ankles swell, etc.
I have no advice but I can commiserate. My feet have been selling since high school but I have never found a cause.
Ballet flats are not here but they are also terrible for your feet. You might want to get some shoes with support. Often they are ugly though. Since I'm a giant I only shop for comfort, there is nothing attractive for me at stores and my feet are shaped oddly so I won't buy online.
H says watch your salt intake and see a doctor. lol FTR I had untreated hypertension for years without swelling. Maybe this is gonna be like when miso found out she was 6 months pregnant.
I think really high cholesterol numbers (250+ total) is genetic, but diet plays a factor too. Mine is genetically high as well (334 a couple weeks ago, 250 at 5 years of age). I'm not on a statin since I'm TTC.
However, I do think you (OP) should check your BP. Swelling like that, especially when it's consistent, can be a sign of something. Then again, mine swell after every one of my shifts, even with compression socks. I have normal BP. I walk a lot when I'm working.
You don't happen to snore or possibly have sleep apnea, do you? I only ask because my mom's feet have been swollen for the past couple of years; her heart is OK, lungs, and blood work all check out. Finally, one of the cardiologist we saw took one look and said, "You most likely have sleep apnea." Which she probably does.
Definitely get it checked out. In the mean time, compression socks really helped me when mine were swollen due to pregnancy.
I experience this daily, and even more-so when it's humid. I've had tests done and luckily everything is normal (no thyroid issues, BP is great, cholesterol is borderline high - but has been contributed to genetics since my "good" cholesterol is excellent).
I have a desk job and that doesn't help at all. I try to drink a lot of water and watch my salt intake, but I'm not super strict about it. My doctor put me on Lasix (water pill) and that seems to help a little.
I've only experienced this a few times, but my feet got HUGE after an all night paper writing session. I was sitting on a hard chair and not getting up for breaks very often. I was in grad school and working full time, so all night was actually like late afternoon to midnight or 1 am.
I would get it checked out before your June appointment. If it's something like diabetes or hyper tension, you don't want to wait on a diagnosis.
I am really susceptible to swelling in the ankles/feet if I walk a lot or if it's warm but I've always been that way. Since it's new for you, I'd be a little more concerned.
I'm glad you are getting checked out. Think of it this way- information is helpful, you can't get where you want to go without knowing where you are right now.
I would start wearing compression socks and putting your feet up as much as possible. Can you get a foot rest for under your desk? Make sure you drink plenty of water, too

My endocrinologist checks my feet/legs for swelling every visit and I have a thyroid disease.
Me too. I think the "cure" is to avoid salt and drink more water, but that doesn't always help. I also find days I don't get up from my desk as much I swell more in the ankle area.
I had this happen about five years ago - the only real explanation was my weight because I didn't have high blood pressure or any other issues. The swelling was what spurred me to lose weight, because it was the first thing that happened to me as a result of being overweight. After I lost about 20 pounds it stopped.

Luckily I don't swell. It took a couple of years of my doctor doing that and I finally asked her "what are you looking for?" lol. I just don't retain my water in my legs and feet, even when I was pregnant. She still checks every appointment so I assume it's a pretty common symptom of thyroid problems.
I have this happen, but I have some nerve damage in my right leg and slight hypertension. Definitely a heart healthy diet (no more than 1500 mg of sodium per day), lots of water, no alcohol helps.
