Happy Star Wars Day! Happy Cinco de Mayo! Happy Derby Day! Happy Early May Bank Holiday Long Weekend! Happy Jazz Fest Weekend! Happy Friday! (or whatever day you are celebrating this weekend.)
What are you ready this busy weekend? Anything exciting?
QOTW: If you had to re-read one of the books you really didn't like, which would it be?
Currently reading The Women in the Castle by Jessica Shattuck. it's pretty good but I have had a busy week so haven't had a chance to get a lot of reading done.
QOTW: no clue. I know there are a lot of books that I hated but right now I cant remember them.
I finished Still Me this week, and I have a bio on Bono that DH found at the recent library sale that I'm going to start today.
QOTW: Man, I hate to waste time on a book I don't like the first time around. I'd hate to reread one of them! I guess Catcher in the Rye because it was short and I could plow through that one quickly and be done with it.
The City of Lost Fortunes by Bryan Camp. It’s a fantasy set in post Katrina New Orleans, filled with tons of gods and creatures. I’m enjoying it and need more reading time.
Qotw: Billy Budd. We had to read it in high school and everyone hated it so much. But our teacher was fantastic, so I’d be willing to revisit it now to see why she chose it.

I'm reading All Our Wrong Todays. I like the writing style and the story is really unique. I am also still working through Artemis on audio. I didn't have a lot of time to read this week because our water heater broke and leaked all over the carpeted part of our basement.
QOTW: I'd maybe read The House on Mango Street or My Antonia. I read them in HS and I think I may have a different perspective if I read them again now.
3.5 stars I am really enjoying my first Mosely! Great story about a 91-year-old on the brinks of dementia, he finds a doctor that gives him a new drug that will help him remember, it's pretty fascinating the things he remembers and admits throughout his life. I am almost finished and thinking there will be some sort of big reveal
The Midwife's Confession by Diane Chamberlain
3.5 stars/fiction What can I say? I love Chamberlain. This was another wonderful read, however, I felt the ending was a bit far-fetched and hard to believe. Overall still a great read, just not my favorite
Currently Reading:
I'll Be Gone in the Dark by Michele McNamara Let Me Lie by Clare MacIntosh
Radical Acceptance Tara Brach - self help? Still reading this. Its good, just finding the time to read it .....and do the activities. I want to devote time to it and feel like I don't have that right now
QOTD: Thats tough! I don't re-read books I love, let alone ones I don't like much lol

I'm still chipping away at Just One Year by Gayle Forman.
QOTW: Hmm I don't have a lot of time to re-read, I guess A Wrinkle in Time because I feel like I should have liked it more? Maybe The Giver since overall I heart Lois Lowery?
I just finished Still Me (liked it) and I'm reading The Lying Game for book club now. I feel like it is the slowest I have ever read a book in my whole life. I don't hate it, so I can't figure out why it feels never-ending. Maybe because no one is particularly likable.
For the question...I don't know, but my answer is definitely not Wicked. I have picked it up four times, convinced that I just wasn't in the right mood the first few times. Nope! Still didn't like it. I am not giving it a fifth try.
Thankfully, we only have to attend a birthday party this weekend. I am still reading the Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner. There are parts of the book when I get bored, but I am enjoying the travel aspect of this book and I enjoy pondering some of his theories on happiness.
Qotw: I don't usually reread books. I reread one of my favorite books from my childhood and hated it the second time, ruining my memories of the book. So I guess If I were forced to reread a book I'd pick a book I hated when I was younger.

I'm reading Caught in the Revolution: Petrograd 1917. It's really very interesting and I am enjoying it more than I thought I would, given that my sympathies lie with the Czar in the revolution.
QOTW: I think I would give T. Coraghessan Boyle's The Road to Wellville another shot or perhaps a couple of mysteries I didn't really like.
I’m re-reading Angels and Demons in preparation for Rome in a few weeks. I’lli reading A Wrinkle in Time as a family and haven’t made much progress on Dead Wake by Erik Larson (audio)
QOTW: any of the Stephanie plum books by Janet evanovich. I like them at first but they are so repetitive. The are easy to get through so I could suffer through them again.
I think I made it to book 8 or 9 of the series before I got so frustrated that the main character never grew...still making the same rookie mistakes.. Just thinking about the series gets me fired up.
I am in a super reading slump right now. I didn't finish any books this week. I have several on my Kindle I can start, but nothing looks that interesting. Oh well. Maybe next week?
I stumbled over here by accident, but I think I should frequent it more often.
I’m currently reading The Woman in the Window.
I read Sourdough last week, and I’m not sure what I’ll read next week.
QOTD: I don’t really like to re-read, but I’d probably do a classic I hated in high school in hopes of finding a deeper meaning...or something. Or maybe I’d try Vonnegut again (I know blasphemous, but I’m not a fan).
I was traveling so picked up some lighter books. I finished Wonder and am currently reading The Sun is Also a Star.
QOTW- probably Life of Pi. I listened to it and am wondering if I tuned a bunch out since so many people loved that book. But I’m another one who rarely rereads.

Me too. It probably didn't help that I read them back to back, either. Same plot, different book and location.
Last week I read a newer one called You Think It, I’ll Say It by Curtis Sittenfeld. It’s a series of ten satisfying, complete short stories about middle aged people, and I highly recommend it. Five stars. I’m still working through The Me, Me, Me Epidemic. It’s not earth shattering, but I’m making a few tweaks to my parenting approach... at least last week my kids participated a little more in chores than they usually do, so that’s a win.
QOTW: I don’t know what I’d re-read. I hesitate to invest the time unless something looks good from the get go, I feel like I should read it to be conversant in a topic, I get a recommendation, or it’s for a book club or challenge.
I'm currently reading the Silo #2 inside of the Silo Omnibus, Pandora's Lab: Seven Stories of Science Gone Wrong, and A Higher Loyalty. But I've had to put Comey's book on hold while my MIL is visiting, because I have the hardback copy from the library and she loves to talk books, and I flat out refuse to discuss anything political with her - even though she hates Trump she's still a conservative. I also hid away Amy Siskind's The List for the same reason, but I haven't started it yet. Thankfully she has no interest in discussing Silo. LOL!
QOTW: I'd probably re-read The Scarlet Letter. I remember hating it in high school, but I think that was due to the over analyzing. I still don't think the sunlight through the trees shining on Pearl had any significance despite what my English teacher insisted, I think it was just scene dressing.
Finished Knight & Moon #2. It was so far fetched, but I needed something light. Nothing to write about.
Currently reading The Marriage Pact. I’m not sure how it ended up on my list, but I feel like I’m reading about a fictional Scientology. It’s very slow.
QOTW- I’ve had so many bad ones, it would be hard to pick, lol.

Isn't Scientology fictional anyway?
Well I’m sure the Scientologists would disagree 😉
It’s just an odd book about a marriage pact. And the discussion reminds me of Leah Remini’s book.
I put it down and just started Promise Not to Tell.
I finished The Book of Life (3rd All Souls Trilogy), 3 1/2* - it was fine, things ended predictably, but that can be a good thing!
Started and stopped: Fortune's Rocks, Anita Shreve for my IRL book club. I just can't do it, not enjoying it and find the subject matter frustrating.
Currently reading: Cork Dork, Bianca Bosker for one of my IRL book clubs. It started out interestingly. Carve the Mark, Veronica Roth, my DH said I needed to find some YA to read, brain candy for a stressful time at work!
I just borrowed three books from the library - we'll see what I get to.
QOTW: I rarely reread books I love, so I wouldn't. If I had to pick, Blowfly by Patricia Cornwell, my mom loves them and would like me to finish, despite the fact that I stopped reading to not have to keep reading this book.
