Monday randoms

How was everyone's weekends?  What has Monday had in store for you so far?

I worked until pretty late on Friday, and DH was tired, so we just went home and relaxed there.

Saturday, we went out to brunch, which was delicious...I had a southern-style eggs Benedict that was pork belly and a Tabasco hollendaise over a poached egg and a fried grits cake. OMG, so good. We then went to a beer festival, where I found that I like Hefewiesens, weisse beers, and the occasional Belgian wit. Went over to a friend's house, where we grilled steaks and veggies for dinner, and then headed back to our hotel.

Sunday, we went for a flight around town before heading home...spent a quiet day relaxing until I had to go teach.

The weekend went by sooooo fast!!! Friday I worked longer than I had planned and was not in the mood to go out, but I had plans, so I had to! The cop and I went to dinner and then to Avenue Q, which was soooooo funny! My stomach hurt from laughing! Saturday DD and I went to Milwaukee to tour the school and I was less stressed about it as an option, after the tour. I still don't like the idea of her being that far away, but I know she's gotta spread her little wings. We took our sweet time coming home and stopped at a couple of outlet malls and then she bought me dinner. Yesterday, DD and I ran errands, did some household task stuff, I mowed the lawn and then we took my mom out to dinner for mother's day.

All in all, it was a busy but good weekend.

Monday is a lame work day with a side of getting an oil change. My friend invited me to some networking thing tonight that I'm ehhhh about going to. I'm sure it will be fine.

Weekend was great.

Saturday was the "celebration of women" party and it was a blast.

Sunday I was able to see my we great nephew and rocked the cutie patootie to sleep. My niece, his mom, was like can you please come over every night and do this because he has never gone down that fast for anyone else. Just call me the baby whispered.

It was super fun. Friday, I had drinks at my local. It was fun, got to hang out with the staff I like. Saturday, I got new chairs for the living room. Then I went to the funk museum with a bunch of friends. We followed it up with dinner and drinks.

Yesterday I caught up on stuff at home.

Friday night we did our dessert tasting. Ermahgad I legit ended up with an upset stomach from eating too much as we couldn't decide. The clear favorites were: mexican chocolate pot de creme with candied blood oranges and chipotle almonds, and a pistachio/fragipane gallete with orange vermouth soaked cherries. For cakes we decided on espresso brown butter with praline frosting, and an almond cake with either chocolate or coconut frosting. For the third one, P shocked the hell out of me by telling the lady to PICK WHATEVER SHE WANTED. So, we are going to show up to this dinner and get a surprise cake, lol.

Saturday I ran, then went out with some friends, which was fun. Sunday we celebrated Mother's Day.

It pretty much was, hence why P told her to pick what she wanted. His train of thought "well, when we picked out stuff for a room we liked it, but it was safe. When the designer picked out stuff for our bedroom, it was amazing and we loved it. So I figured this would kind of be the same. I mean, she's the expert." I also want to add that before the tasting, he told me he DEFINITELY wanted a vanilla cake with vanilla frosting. So we go from boring, erm I mean classic to WHEEEE! PICK WHATEVER YOU WANT!!

OMG bullygirl979 I'm kind of giggling at P right now. Those desserts sound delicious!


My weekend was overall good. Saturday night my dad was kind of a jerk about my foot injury and dancing. Like, me crying into my napkin and not wanting to look at him. He was telling me this is going to be a problem in a month, in a year, in two years, etc and I need to find something else that works for me. Sometimes his German and engineer side comes out in really shitty ways. Mother's Day was really nice, though. We went to a yummy brunch and relaxed later in the day. My mom and I made pasta together on Saturday, too. Overall it was a nice weekend despite my dad's assy moment.

Oh man, those all sound amazing, bullygirl979! We pretty much told the chef to go crazy and have fun, too...I highly recommend that approach! I'm sure you'll love your surprise cake!

tiramisu, I'm sorry your dad was so rough on you about your foot injury. I'm sure you and your doctor can come up with a treatment plan so it won't be an issue long-term.
