Still working on Pandora's Lab and A Higher Loyalty (which I need to finish this weekend because it's due back on Monday), but wrapped up Wildflower by Drew Barrymore yesterday and my book club for it last night. I've also started Thank You for Being Late: An Optimist's Guide to Thriving in the Age of Accelerations by Thomas Friedman for my other book club, and woo boy, this seems like it's going to be tedious.
QOTW: Today's QOTW is brought to you by a dream about Drew Barrymore I had last night. LOL! I was hanging out with her, Jessica Chastain (whose name I couldn't remember in the dream, or this morning when I woke up and had to look up) and someone else "famous" who I sort of recognized. Drew was writing out a list of all the reasons why she liked all of us as friends, and it made me super happy. And way to go brain for giving me a little ego boost of all my positive attributes. Ha!
So yes, I dream quite vividly, remember probably 2-3 dreams each night, and my books tend to work their way into my subconscious.

I just started An American Marriage last night. I remember reading the synopsis when it first came out and I added it to my library holds but I honestly can't remember what it was about! It's going to be a surprise!
QOTW: I don't know if I dream about books really. I may have in the past but I don't typically. (Which is odd because reading is usually the last thing I do before I go to bed.) I love dreams though. I find them fascinating and often hilarious! I like telling people my dreams and having them tell me theirs. The more random the better. The problem is, I pretty much forget my dreams after I share them.
I finished Fire and Fury (fine, I was late to the party with it so may have been more interesting had I read it in January) and started Glass Sword, which is in the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard. It's the kind of thing where I read the first book, wanted to read the next two IMMEDIATELY - and now its been a month and I'm kind of meh on the series. But I have the books so I guess I'll read them.
I don't dream about books unless I read them right before bed and the book is disturbing. I remember distinctly staying up "late" (like 11, which is late for me, ha) to finish Shutter Island around the time the movie came out, and I remember having the weirdest dream that night, involving an insane asylum and prisoners and all that. So that kind of book tends to invade my sleep, but not the usual books I read.

I'm reading Beartown right now and cannot put it down! I think I was one of the few people who didn't love A Man Called Ove, but he definitely gets emotions of people. I don't have a hockey background, but enjoy sports and think he does a great job portraying the parents and kids!

Crave by JR Ward, eh the Fallen Angel series is ok. Definitely not my favorite.
Listening to: Hidden Figures, I’m havinf a hard time getting into it. Also started the first Harry Potter book. Haven’t listened to them before. Not too bad.
I finished The Last Mrs. Parrish, which was great. I think it may have been better if she ended it about 30 pages sooner, but I really enjoyed the book.
I'm reading The Punishment She Deserves by Elizabeth George. I just started it, but it's part of a series that I always enjoy. I am hoping to make some progress this weekend since I think I have a lot of library holds coming up.
This week I finally finished The “Me, Me, Me” Epidemic by Amy McCready, 4 stars. It was decent and had a few good parenting tips (i.e., spend at least 10 minutes a day one on one per child, don’t do for a kid what she can do for herself, have them take ownership of chores as being part of the family, just give and don’t have them earn allowance to teach them to handle money), but I’m already doing a lot of it, and it wasn’t what I’d consider a page turner.
I also read Artemis by Andy Weir, 3.5 stars, and agree that The Martian was better/more believable. I jotted down a few thoughts for the book club discussion, so I’ll hold off on more for now.
I’m reading Text Me When You Get Home - The Evolution and Triumph of Modern Female Friendship by Kayleen Schaefer. I totally agree with the general premise that female friends can be fabulous and are worth celebrating, but I am getting tired of hearing about all of the author’s personal experiences and feelings, and I don’t think I can buy her pitch to ever elevate a friend over my own child if their needs ever came head to head at the same time (nor would I expect a friend to do that for me, because I’m an adult!). Anyway.
QOTW: I do almost always remember my dreams right when I wake up, but they usually don’t have much to do with books.
I'm reading a Court of Frost and Starlight. I also have Freedom is a Constant Struggle by Angela Y. Davis kicking around, but that one's hard to read in long stretches.
I finished Mary Anne vs. Logan. For like the 3rd time in my life, lol. I started re-reading the BSC when they were re-released in Kindle versions a few years ago, which really ups my book count for the year when I've fallen behind. I'm also listening to the Babysitters Club Club podcast and I'm now caught up to where I am in the books, trying to keep up with them.
QOTW: I remember dreams mostly in the morning (I guess - if I didn't remember them at all, I probably wouldn't know I dreamed, right?), but I don't think I've dreamt about books. Sounds fun, though, as long as I dreamt I was a character in a beloved book or series.
Just finished “In the Distance,” by Hernan Diaz, and “In My Father’s Distant Land,” by Bo Caldwell. Both were fantastic reads which I would highly recommend.
Today I started “Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness,” a memoir by Susannah Catalan. I’m about 20% done with it and found it difficult to put down this morning.
I very rarely remember any dreams, and the ones I do are pretty boring.
I read the first half of Circe by Madeline Miller on my flight earlier today. Absolutely loving it and can't wait to read more on the flight home! frog I think you would like this.
QOTW: My dreams are weird as hell and not at all linear. I'm more likely to remember feelings and impressions rather than specifics. I've definitely had dreams related to shows I was watching but not many books.

Oh, it’s on my list
Have you read “The Song of Achilles”? Same author, fantastic read.

I'm still reading Caught in the Revolution: Petrograd 1917. I did not know Pravda was pre-Revolution -- that surprised me, but it did not surprise me in the least that the numbers of dead were misreported in Pravda. Th official reports were 1328 dead (which are still being used as historical fact), witnesses and other counts put the number closer to 5,000.
In the meantime, and to counteract some of the horrors of the Revolution, I have had 3 Kindle Freebie mysteries. They're worth what I paid for them, but they are fun to read and a good change, especially at 3 am when I can't get back to sleep.
QOTW: From this post: Sometimes I remember my dreams, sometimes I do not. Sometimes they are influenced by way I'm reading, sometimes not. But I do dream in Black & White, never color. From ufcasey 's post: I'd really like to meet Teddy Roosevelt, Tsar Nicholas II, King George V, and my father's maternal grandmother, who by all accounts was a kick-ass-and-take-names kind of woman, who never learned English, even though her family had been in New Orleans since the 1700s.
I am listening to The Great Alone, it is a great audiobook I started reading Before We were Yours, like it so far.
QOTW: sometimes I remember many of my dreams, other times none. I think it depends on how tired I am. I can’t think of an instance where a dream was based around a book, but I’m sure it’s happened. I do incorporate random current events into my dreams. I remembered the one from last night when I was reminded by a news story. I dreamed that I was at an event/dinner and sitting across from Melenia. She was eating whatever she wanted, basically stuffing her face. I remember thing that was strange being she just had surgery!
The copy of The Belles I got from the library was misbound so I just got a correct copy and finished it this week. I also started Inferno by Julie Kagawa and Iron Gold by Pierce Brown.
QOTW: I remember my dreams but I don't dream about books (or tv shows.) I mostly dream about people I know.
Just finished That Kind Of Mother by Rumaan Alam. It was okay but most of characters were all really stiff and I didn’t think they came across as real people.
QOTW: I do remember my dreams but I don’t write them down. I don’t think what I read really influences them. I frequently have dreams that take place in the same made up locations but the content is different. Like there is this fake mall I dream about that stretches to Canada (lol) but why I am there and what happens is different each time. Fun fact: my mom hates dreams and dreaming. Like she is truly annoyed by them.
I finally finished People of the Book (Geraldine Brooks) on a flight early this week - plenty of time to listen to the audiobook. 5* I really liked it.
Today I finished Cork Dork (Bianca Bosker) for my IRL book club on Tuesday. 5* also liked this one. Fun writing style, learned a lot about wine, even though I wanted wine constantly while reading and now feel I need to increase my wine budget!
Currently reading Carve the Mark (Veronica Roth) and my library copy of Artemis came in, so I will get started on that.
QOTW: I remember bits and pieces of my dreams, but they are (sadly) more often about work than books.
Every book on my night stand right now has something to do with mindfulness or living in the present or meditation. I'm struggling with my anxiety something fierce and these seem to help. If I can actually manage to finish one of them, I'll post a review. lol!
