Does a product like this exist? This is my daughter's 4th year of dance, and every year we try a different brand for the recital, and they either A. don't last through the whole thing or B. go on glossy but get dry and crumbly shortly after. I've tried adding a clear gloss on top of the color, but if it wears off she gets really upset and ends up licking all the color off (and getting color on her teeth). I don't really wear any sort of lipstick or lip gloss, so any recs on a brand to try would be greatly appreciated, and bonus points if it's not super expensive since we'll only use it once a year!
Do you want a gloss or a liquid lipstick? They are different things. Glosses by their very nature aren’t meant to last a long time though some are better than others. The more pigment, the more cling. I’ve had good luck with Anastasia, Buxom, and the NYX butter gloss intense. The best liquid lipstick I’ve tried is the Bare Minerals Gen Nude line. They feel like nothing on the lips. The NYX soft matte is a decent drugstore dupe. Maybelline superstay matte ink lipsticks have incredible lasting power but do feel quite dry. Good luck licking it off though lol. Adding a gloss to any liquid lipstick will immediately alter the formula and it will disappear quickly.
If you don’t mind the splurge, maybe check out the Lancôme matte shakers too. Supposedly it’s more like a stain.

I was hoping for something with a little bit of shine or shimmer instead of matte, but if matte is the only way to go to get color to stay without being dry, then I'll try some of the ones you suggested.
For my own ballet recitals I use UD ozone lip liner on my whole lip, then use Stila stay all day liquid lipstick. After it dries down I use a tiny bit of Smith's rosebud salve in the lip balm tube for some shine. You can get all of these at Ulta.

Urban Decay’s lip gloss works really well. The only issue I have with any gloss, is the stickiness and my hair. As long as I wear my hair in a pony, I’m ok.
For my dance recitals I wear lipstick from Besame cosmetics. They're very pigmented so even though they can smudge off, they stay in place really, really well. Enough that they stain my lips a little. They're not entirely matte but nor are they particularly glossy. I don't know what color she needs, but their Victory Red is my favorite for my recitals.
you could try urban decay's liquid lipstick, they have a few different finishes - metallic and cream, not just matte. or i believe colourpop has several finishes too.
I find the Maybelline lipsticks to have really good staying power. The mattes last hours for me but aren’t drying like a liquid lipstick. The cream formula is really good too but would probably need a touch up. You could also add just a bit of gloss for some shine to the mattes.

This. I can't dance in gloss because my hair drags it all over my face. I recommend a matte or similar lipstick, from MAC. Diva is a good stage color. I like any of their reds.
