MrsMB the dentist always pops in at the end to poke around for a minute and look at the xrays, but the hygienist has already done all of the checking. I guess the dentist is primarily there for any procedures and complications.

Gotcha. I think I'd feel better if he just came to poke around for a minute like you're describing. I've been going to this guy for 5 years. All dentists before that did what you're describing.
MrsMB - Yeah, I would definitely be concerned about that. I mean, I’m sure he’s looking at your xrays (assuming they’re taking them), but there are plenty of things he should be checking that can’t be seen on xrays. If you’re getting six month cleanings, he should really be doing an exam at every other appointment.
Do you know if they’re billing you for annual exams, or only cleanings?
I'd have to check. I'm not sure. But I make my appointments every 6 months like I've done for years. Would they ASSUME I just wanted a cleaning and not an exam? Surely, not. Right? Could this be my fault somehow?
Regardless, I found someone who is reputable that can get me in next week (only because I have a chipped tooth). Normally, they wouldn't be able to fit in a new patient so soon.
No, this is definitely not your fault at all. They should be scheduling time on the doctor's schedule for him to come in and do an exam. Whether the hygienist notices something for him to take a look at or not, he's the doctor. He needs to get in there and do the annual exam. It shouldn't be up to the hygienist to do the doctor's job, and it shouldn't be up to you to make sure they schedule time for him to see you.
I'm glad you're moving to a new dentist, and that they were able to get you in to be seen so quickly!

Ok, thanks. Glad I'm not crazy. Yeah, I'm not expecting MUCH....just what ewall is describing. That's what I'm used to. I think it's been so nutty with being pregnant the last few years. Maybe that had something to do with it? I know that with two cleanings, they did a very LIGHT appointment for that reason alone. So, I'm wondering if a ball got dropped somewhere.

I agree. It's like the difference between a doctor and a nurse. We both look at the same thing, but the doctor has more/ different knowledge and uses his/her assessment to develop a diagnosis and a plan. I wouldn't presume to do a cervical check and feel some boobs and say that your annual well woman check is complete, even though I know what they're looking for.

It’s after 8pm and my landlord is patching the chimney. He is working right in front of my kitchen window. I’ve got a pretty bad headache and between him banging the later, the music blasting and fumes from whatever he is using, it’s making it worse. All I want to do is my dishes and go to bed.
The day basically sucked. Lol. DH forgot it was my birthday. I called him on his way home and we had a little fight over something else, so when he got home I left him with the girls and went grocery shopping alone. It was really nice actually and really what I needed. When I got home he remembered it was my birthday and got his mom set up to watch the girls tonight so he can take me out to dinner. At least he remembered before I said something. I know he is terrible at dates but we've been married almost 8 years and together 4 before that... he should be able to figure some shit out on his own.
The other plans I had for the day fell through. I'm just going to plan a do over sometime. BFF text me last night asking how I was liking 30 and if we are boycotting it. I told her I wasn't loving it so far. Planning for today to be better!

bk1 happy belated birthday! I’m sorry your day sucked.
My friends from work threw a surprise going away party yesterday for us at the end of my shift. H was supposed to be there but as usual he couldn’t make it because of work. Apparently he told his boss about it too. I think he did it on purpose. It was a lot of fun. Tonight our friends from the fire house are having a Bon fire for us, hopefully H makes it.

So my work has implemented "summer Friday hours". Basically we can change our hours on Fridays so we can leave earlier if we want, for the whole summer or just certain ones. I'm super excited about it! I normally get off at 4:45 so I'm switching to get off at 4 (H gets off at 4 on Fridays, but we'll still drive separate because I'll go in at 7:30 and he goes in at 8:45). I don't know how I'm ever going to leave this job, lol.
That's the dilemma I've been having lately. I really do love my job but it's the only thing really I like about living here. So do I look for another job I might end up hating just to live in the general area I want to live? Or do we decide to stay here and eventually move back closer (we're about 15 miles out of town, I'd prefer to be in one of the immediate "suburbs"). Ugh. Decisions. Obviously this is years away but I like to have a general plan!
I had my physical Weds with a new doctor. He did my blood work for my thyroid again and I got the results yesterday- TSH went from 15.69 to 3.23 in less than 2 weeks of consistently taking my med! I was expecting it to still be high (and am hoping it drops closer to 1) so I am happy with this! Plus, I have dropped a little weight so everything is heading in the right direction!
