I don't want to speak too soon because it's probably a year away and we may not even go, but my H's company is opening a London office. If we have the opportunity to move we would do it since we don't own a home and V isn't school aged yet.
But then I had a mini heart attack thinking about my dogs!
you can.... yes. but the UK and Ireland are islands that have never been exposed to Rabies, unlike the continental US. So you're looking at 4-6months of quarantine if you try to bring your dog with you
(I rescued my dog when I lived in Ireland and brought her back to the US with me, which is how I know the laws around this stuff. It's different going to continental Europe, but the islands have real tough quarantine laws)

Oh gosh this is not good news!!
No, it isn't. I know you're just looking at it right now, but any idea if the move would be permanent or temporary? I wouldn't put your dog through that, honestly - it was bad enough putting my furbaby on a 20+ hour flight in cargo (via Germany) with all of the weird airline restrictions just to get her home. I couldn't bear to lock her up in some gov't quarantine facility for months on end. On a positive note, (worst case scenario) my brother lives in Brooklyn and really misses having a dog....

It would be a temporary move (probably for a few years, though) but I don't think we'd consider moving if we couldn't bring our dogs or if we had to put them through hell to get there. We are crazy dog people! I just googled it and it seems like they have changed the quarantine rules as of Jan 2013 but I'm not sure how credible these sources are. Anyway, I appreciate the heads up and I'll look into it further for sure!
